Help me get better…
Hey all- so here is a headlight I restored yesterday…I used stay clear for the first time. There are a couple of hazy spots and I was wondering what I could do to fix that. When I sanded everything looked perfectly uniform, so I was shocked when it looked hazy. There was also a part in the top left where it was thin and I tried to add more- hard to see in the photo, but it didn’t level out and you can definitely tell IRL. (Maybe I didn’t all the coats fast enough?) From watching a few videos I think I may have not used enough product…. I also didn’t realize I could just clean it off and re-do it right away or I would have done that. Is that all I did wrong or are there other things I could have done differently/better? Thanks for your help!

Sometimes we can be our own biggest critics. Minor imperfections are within the norm. As long as we don’t promise “exactly like new” and inform the customer of certain limits, this kind of imperfection is normal. That before and after is a big shocker to begin with. I would be surprised if the customer was upset with the results.

@Andrew Lundgren heat gun/warm water will help warm up the lens, otherwise there might be leftover clear coat.
2004 Ford Mustang GT - Vapor Method
This Mustang’s headlights had severe micro-cracking, and I honestly wasn’t sure I could do much. The result isn’t perfect, but the vapor restoration definitely brought a lot of clarity and life back.

Clear pealing?
Haven’t had this happen to us before, I’m hoping to potentially get some insight as to why this even happened. We used the usual process and stay clear headlight magic system as usual. We’ve done like 50 cars so far and this has never happened once until recently. This was literally like almost a week after we did it btw and he said he just tried washing his car and then this happened.

Most likely factory coat was not removed all the way. From the before part of the video almost all the factory coat is intact. So this one would have required going down to 320 grit most likely
