Warranty claim/redo
I did these lights at the end of May with the Blue Vapor system. Thankfully she was cool with letting me know. She got the lifetime warranty. BUT I want to encourage yall with 2 things here. 1. No matter who it is restoring the lights, no one is perfect. Remember, it’s just plastic. 2. I used this simply as continuing to build rapport with the client and asked for referrals once again. “You miss every shot you don’t take” When I was there I also redid the truck because even though she hadn’t noticed it yet, I wasn’t about to get called back in a few weeks when she then noticed since her van was clear. Also, having been restoring lights since 2011, this brings my callbacks/warranty claims up to grand total of…….5 or 6. Let’s call it 6, people have EVER called me back to redo their lights and I’ve been offering lifetime warranty up until the last year or so. Only recently did I add a shorter warranty option. Not saying you should/shouldn’t offer a lifetime. Just saying, people pretty much don’t call you back. That is NOT a reason to still not do your best work but I’m just saying, you got this!

@Andrew Tucker were you able to figure out why they failed, or is that even possible?
Help me get better…
Hey all- so here is a headlight I restored yesterday…I used stay clear for the first time. There are a couple of hazy spots and I was wondering what I could do to fix that. When I sanded everything looked perfectly uniform, so I was shocked when it looked hazy. There was also a part in the top left where it was thin and I tried to add more- hard to see in the photo, but it didn’t level out and you can definitely tell IRL. (Maybe I didn’t all the coats fast enough?) From watching a few videos I think I may have not used enough product…. I also didn’t realize I could just clean it off and re-do it right away or I would have done that. Is that all I did wrong or are there other things I could have done differently/better? Thanks for your help!

@Ankhbayar Batkhurel It is one of my vehicles, so the customer isn’t satisfied! Ha! @Christopher Stevens I took another one this am where you can def see the haze. I’ll upload it here in a sec.

Here are some photos where it’s more obvious. I’m going to redo them next week… Hopefully it will be a little bit warmer and I’ll be more prepared to go quickly and do a nice thick coat of the stay clear. There’s anything else you think I need to do to help correct it, please let me know! Thanks for all those who have chimed in so far.
How to get great photos….help!
I realized after trying to get some good before and after photos that it’s very hard to get good shots!😬 So….What are your best tips and tricks to get great before and after photos? (Angles, sunlight/shade/background/time of day). Was hoping that some of you all who have been in the game for a while might have some good pointers!

@Keat Simon Ha! Well, I’m not talking about how to make me a good photographer…I’m talking things that would be specific to taking photos of headlights. Marketing is a pretty important part of building business so I want my first before/after photos to really pop! Some questions might be… Do you take the photos of both lights at the same time or just one at a time? Front view only, or do you do side view as well? Do you take the shot at the level of the lens? Slightly higher? Slightly lower? Does the position of the sun or another light source help to get a great shot? For example- is it better if the sun is shining directly on the lens or is that worse? Is it better if it comes in at an angle or not? Tips for how to make the background less “busy” or reflective once the headlight is clear to more clearly show the clarity of the lens itself. Do you ever turn the headlight on for pics- before or after? Is it best to get closer and take the photo with no zoom or stand further back and 3x it? Do you do anything different if the car around the headlight looks like junk- (ie. Take before photos with the tape on?” Sorry if this seems extra or anal, but I’m just trying to take the shortest path to the best results and thought you all might have some insight! If I’m way overthinking or if this content is already out there or if I need to sit down and shut up feel free to let me know! 😉. Thanks all!
Quick question about business Categories
I’m listing my business on Google what would be the business category I would want to select. Auto detailing seems like the right fit but I’m unsure. I want my Google listing to work for me not against me. Thanks for the help. If we have any Google experts in the room, Please reach out. I need some tips. Thanks! PM or Call 812-431-5973 -Charles

I recently did mine and had the same question. I ended up putting it in the auto detailing category and then adding several other “custom tags” later in the process.
Name help…
Would love any input from the community… I’m just starting out and want to build a robust side hustle that maybe turns into more. I am trying to come up with a good name…I live in SW Missouri (Springfield), but the area is generally called the Ozarks, so I’d like to keep that in the name somewhere… Here are a few ideas for names I’ve been brainstorming… let me know if any of these are horrible or better than the others: Ozarks Headlight Restoration Pros Professional Headlight Restoration of the Ozarks Headlight Heroes of the Ozarks Ozarks Headlight Pros Thanks for any feedback!

@Adam Franco thanks for the feedback. So you think it’s fine without “professional” anywhere in the name?
