Today's top quality quote from our coaches meeting from Alister. How do I improve my triathlon running? Learn to swim young wo(man).

I can't take credit for the quote. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaBoPFVh1fA Alan is your fairy godmother when it comes to learning to swim (better). I just put it into context

@Alan Cardwell Tell me about it; one minute you have ambitions of getting onto the front pack, next you have a favourite spatula!
Swim video analysis
Last month we have filmed 29 members of Glasgow Triathlon Club and are currently working through the footage. The common flaws in no particular order 1. Breathing issues 2. Low hips and or legs, dragging an anchor 3. No catch 4. Dropped elbow 5. Sloppy propulsion 6. Tension and stiffness 7. Ineffective or detrimental kick These are just the common ones. As an example if you swim better with a pull buoy than without..you most certainly have 2 and or 7.

So, only two problems - streamlining and propulsion 😇

Has anyone tried making their own gels? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dj4oYcRLxEo

What supplements are folk using? And why? I've started taking high doses of vit D as we're in semi darkness for the next few months. It seems that we're all deficient in the northern hemisphere so supplementation is a must.
The Ace of Base
At this time of year, endurance athletes are encouraged to focus on their base training. But the base of what? Movement and performance are individual and complex so that what is a priority for base training for one person is unlikely to be a priority for another. An athlete may have several years experience and may need to focus on developing speed (in the context of endurance) to increase their performance. Another may need to build strength so that they can increase their power output for a hilly race. Yet another may need to focus on a run frequency block so that they can eventually do the longer run tempo sessions that they need to get to their marathon goal time. The base period is not just a time for long, slow movement. It’s a time to explore ways to make you faster.

@Zoe Newsam The "rules" for getting someone faster/stronger/ better etc are fine for average athletes. The problem is that none of us are average.
