Hi all, my name is Al Banks. I own a European Auto Repair shop in Westminster, CA (located in Orange County). My biggest frustration is finding not only qualified mechanics, but, also mechanics with a good attitude and take pride in what they do. I've tried Indeed, ZipRecruiter - even reached out to local colleges that offer Automotive Technology as a major; however, I have not had any luck. I acquired this business several months before Covid. Shortly after the pandemic, I noticed a shift in the lack of experienced mechanics out searching for jobs. I also noticed many of the qualified ones became Mobile Mechanics - which lead me to believe many of them used the PPP money form the government to buy tools, and became mobile. All I've been getting are mechanics that are flaky - they work when they want to, with no regards to the needs of our customers. Half of them don't even show up to work anymore. Hopefully this forum can help me locate the ideal candidate/s to help grow my business.
