YouTube retention tips needed
Hello everyone! I hope you're all having a great weekend. I have a question about video retention. I'm experiencing a significant drop-off right from the intro on my educational YouTube channel. How do you deal with this? Are there any strategies you've found helpful for improving retention without relying heavily on visuals, B-roll, or other production elements? I've tried keeping the intro short and clear, explaining what the video is about, and then briefly introducing myself and my expertise in the field. Could the issue be that I'm new to YouTube and haven't built trust with my audience yet? I'm curious about how I can build that trust and maintain better retention. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I have a question about stories
@Alexa Saarenoja has asked me to do a presentation about storytelling next week. I have some ideas around general theory and techniques you can use for unearthing your stories, but why burning questions to you have? What do you want to know?

Hi,Mike Garner. What storytelling techniques should a small YouTube creator with few or no viewers use to build trust and engagement, and grow an audience step by step?

Welcome :)
Introduction to the community
Hello everyone! I hope you’re all having a great day or night so far! =) I’m a new YouTube creator. As a non-native English speaker myself, on my channel I talk about how to become fluent and overcome the fear of speaking English. I joined this community because I really appreciate the effort Alexa puts into her work, and of course because I want to be around people who are motivated to grow and improve themselves.

@Kai Lorenz Great experience! Yep, that's something close to what I want to build the channel around. To start speaking, you actually need to speak—and most people stop right there. It's still hard to find my audience, but I know I also need to work on presenting information in the right way. It's not that I don’t want to share because of the topic—I'm just still trying to find myself in this space and figure out how I really want to present things. I'm just starting out, so my storytelling, editing, and everything else are still a bit messy 😅 If you have something to share about language learning, I’d love to chat and exchange ideas!

If you worry about too much words here you can use some part of them in title name. For example title name can be smth like "5 warning symptoms you need to worry about"or smth like that. In such scenario you can left only 2 words plus center the button and make text bolder. But if talking only about version 1 vs 2. I would say 1. But you never know how audience will react,so A/B testing also a great idea if you have more than 1 solid idea :)
