Two years ago, I thought perfumes were just about smelling good. Turns out, they were quietly recording chapters of my life. Every bottle on this shelf carries a memory more than a scent. The sparkling citrus and energetic opening of Cedrat Boise reminds me of chasing impossible deadlines, believing every new week could be the one that changed everything. The earthy calm of Guerlain Vetiver feels like those rare evenings after chaos—when exhaustion slowly gave way to satisfaction, and silence smelled better than celebration. Terre d’Hermès EDT became the scent of long commutes, difficult conversations, and learning that confidence doesn’t have to be loud. Sometimes it simply smells of orange, flint, and earth. Prada L’Homme is the fragrance of ordinary days that quietly became extraordinary. Fresh shirt, early meetings, small wins that no one applauds—but you remember. YSL Y reminds me that ambition has its own scent. Bright, clean, optimistic… almost like pressing the reset button after every setback. L’Homme Idéal taught me elegance isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up, even when life isn’t ideal. There were days when Ombré Leather felt less like leather and more like borrowed courage. Some fragrances don’t change who you are—they simply remind you of who you’ve been all along. Then came the complex ones. Xerjoff, H24 Herbes Vives, the Middle Eastern creations, the attars… fragrances that refused to reveal everything in the first five minutes. Much like people, they demanded patience before they shared their story. Some mornings called for fresh aquatics and sparkling citrus. After watching and reading and bantering with the brothers @Edward Mooney @Paul Bartnicki and several others about how wonderful this scent is. I imposed (upon myself) a lot of shame and embarrassment that I had not tried this yet. I ave been down several rabbit holes and declared I was not getting anything else until the new year. While I'm not going to pretend I waited until the new year to order it, I did wait until after Christmas (when Santa failed to bring it) 🤬, but it didn't arrive until today so I am taking this as a Win in fulfilling my promise for nothing new until 2026 albeit it on a technicality 😎 I did try just a brief whiff and I will say on the surface it seems right up my alley! Obviously it will take several wears to really get my feelings down. All of this is to say THANK YOU! to everyone in the Brotherhood! We're catching a "early bird" special tonight at a nice place with friends. All that talk yesterday, @Lon Chaneyfield about the various DHIs got me thinking that it's been a while since I reached for this bottle and I know I love the iris and powdery notes. Quickly, the top is lavender and slightly herbal but that doesn't last too long and its famous "lipsticky" vibe surfaces. It's thick and slightly fruity-sweet. The base is cedar, vetiver with a dry, woody finish that keeps it masculine. By shear luck, I got an older (2011?) bottle even though I bought it last year. It's a favorite of mine. My bottle has the name and everything on the top of the cap. This is a really nice frag. 9.0/10.0
