Drink your water!
As the weather shifts 🌡☔️🌞, let me steer you toward room-temperature Water. While cold Water might feel refreshing, it actually makes your body work harder. Room-temp 💧 helps your system stay balanced and offers more overall health benefits.

I get so cold in the winters anyway so cold water is like "NO" haha
Just starting out
Glad I found this community and met @Coach Josh De Jong! Did my longest run ever this weekend (5.32 miles) And my longest bike ride ever (24 min) It's a great start to see where I was at. Excited to do my first triathlon in June 2026. Long way to go so I will keep updates here. :)
Did you know doing hard things is as much a brain exercise as it is physical?
Meet the anterior mid-cingulate cortex (aMCC) — your brain’s built-in grit muscle. Here’s the wild part: when you push past resistance (the “ugh, I don’t wanna” moments), you’re not just figuratively building mental strength… you’re literally making your brain stronger. The aMCC grows more active and more resilient the more you use it. - Skip the easy path → aMCC gets a rep. - Finish the workout when you’d rather quit → aMCC gets a rep. - Lean into the cold plunge instead of backing away → yep, another rep. Why care? - A weak aMCC makes storms feel overwhelming. - A strong aMCC makes storms feel like training opportunities. - One bends under pressure, the other thrives under it. So give yourself credit — every time you show up for that training session you just don't want to, you’re not only building muscle and endurance, you’re literally upgrading your brain hardware. Props to this community for stacking those brain gains day after day. You’re not just tough… you’re storm-proof.

Gauging interest
Hey Loco's, for those that haven't met me yet, I'm Nick Sommers. I'm a college swimmer and have been a triathlete for 4 years now (apart of the team for 2yrs), completing 4 fulls and 7 halfs. I know swimming can be extremely hard for folks and want to help out the team. Therefore, I want to offer swim "lessons" or guidance, especially for technique. I've been teaching adults for some time now and also work with children. Ideally, during my college season we would meet on Sundays to work together. LMK if this is something we'd want

@Nick Sommers hi Nick! Any videos to learn the basics? I don’t know the first thing about swimming?
