Digital Desktop Nomad
Any of the research I have conducted thus far on being a digital nomad revolves around traveling to Thailand and starting an online business as a web designer and getting work online. I am currently working in Desktop Support (on Site) I have about 1 years experience of Desk-side Support, I am currently researching how I can work remotely full time and do this in another country. I have been looking at jobs in Prague and Malta, these places seem to have lots positions and I know it would be a good stepping stone to making the big move to Asia. I am wondering what is the current position with moving to Thailand and getting such a position, from what I have been reading getting a position in a Thai Company may be difficult so I am thinking I may have to find work in another country. I want to stick to finding one company I can work for, the grind of finding new work on Upwork etc is not for me. Can anyone offer any advice going forward for me in the next year or two with making the move from Morally Bankrupt Ireland to freedom in Asia.

I don't think you'll find a tech role in Thailand or any Asian country. Positions like this are guarded by the government for locals and the locals would likely be more cost effective to hire as well. Prague is a great city! If you can find a job there that pays decent, then I'd go for it. I started out teaching English in Prague before moving to Asia. It'll allow you to get more experience and see what lateral options are available so that you don't need to work on-site. Maybe check out companies like Accenture for remote roles. I don't know enough about IT to know what lateral options are available. Maybe project management?
Which Business Model Interests You Most?
I'm exploring different business models for our community and would love your input on which approach resonates with you more. Option A: The Marketing Partner Model - Focus on marketing for skilled service providers - Partner with established professionals who already have expertise - Handle client acquisition and promotion - Take a percentage commission of each project - No need to learn the technical skill yourself Option B: The Skill + Marketing Model - Learn a practical skill (even if at a basic level) - Do your own marketing to find clients - Implement the service yourself for clients - Keep 100% of the project revenue - Gradually improve your skill with each project Please vote for your preferred option and feel free to share any thoughts or questions in the comments!

I'm interested in Option C, creating and promoting your own digital products.
Chiang Mai Accommodation question
I'm coming to Chiang Mai August-November this year. What would be my best accommodation option? Are condos available for shorter periods like three months. Or would I be better off looking for a airbnb?

@Robin Stanley I'd go with Booking.com and just get a nice hotel! My wife and I booked both hotels and Airbnb's last time and felt like we got more bang for our buck at the hotel. It was Stay with Nimman. The room was a great size! Perfect for our family.

@Brett Dev Yeah, that's true. I wouldn't stay there for months. But I'd start there and then get a feel for the short stay market. You're right about Santitham. I lived there for several months and it was quite cheap. Although this was 2016 and I'm sure prices have increased since Covid.

@Clive Kingshott I'm curious. How do you find your students?

@Clive Kingshott Yeah, selling packages of classes upfront seems like the best move. Thanks for the info!
