What does everyone make of the news that Thai authorities plan on reducing the period of visa-free stays from 60 to 30 days. I'm planning a 90 day stay in Thailand (Aug 1st - Nov 1st), is this going to mess me up? I know I can get one extension but no sure about two. I could add in a border run but that might be pushing my luck. Any thoughts appreciated.

Guys, if any of you are looking at the DTV I've been to a few government-led events on it since it launched and got to know some of the team who designed it. Chatted to one at an event in Chiang Mai on Friday and go to ask questions that most people are guessing about and making wrong assumptions over. Happy to chat to anyone in the community if you are thinking about it. I'm not on it and not planning to be atm, but write about it in my newsletter quite often so feel as up to date as most and can clear up a few of the main questions they are not (purposely I might add) answering in the official channels.

I am a UK resident looking to visit Chiang Mai for just under three months. As I understand it I get visa-free entry to Thailand for up to 60 days, which can then be extended once for another 30 days, giving me a total of 90 days. Is this possible to do this without leaving the country? Do I need a visa agent to do the renewal?
