NASDAQ 100 QQQ rule change for investors before SpaceX IPO - gets included after 15 days
Link:Ā https://finance.yahoo.com/news/qqq-investors-sell-spacex-ipo-172258757.html "Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) tracks the Nasdaq-100 index, which is considering a ā€˜Fast Entry’ provision allowing SpaceX to join after just 15 trading days instead of the standard three-month seasoning period" Essentially, the question we are trying to answer is: Is SpaceX IPO overvalued? With its ratios right now, yes it is Will index funds like QQQ be forced to buy it 15 days after IPO? Yes (compare to waiting 3 months before) This means there will be a surge of capital going from NASDAQ 100 QQQ into SpaceX 15 days after IPO So while I forecast insider will be selling the stock to cash out, this surge of cash from index funds will lead to maintaining SpaceX's volatile stock price. So the actual correction should come after the index funds buy in. Cheers, Eric ---- Eric Seto CharteredĀ Professional Accountant (CPA) Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) Founder ofĀ 5MinInvesting.com In June, I’mĀ helping 20 people to become better at investing through Investing Accelerator. Thanks Eric, (this is the same question I posted in the other thread on IA) will the seed investors need to wait 6 months to dump? Is that still a thing, or is there a way around it? I always thought the shooting up and crashing in the first days or weeks was just retail investor craziness. Would you mind clarifying? Thanks!

Eric, do you think the ensuing IPO's of OpenAI and Anthropic will buffer this whole index issue, at least for a little while? It seems like these three companies (plus NVDA perhaps) will dominate the market after they are all publicly traded. Do you see this as anything different than the Mag-7 dominance over the last decade. Is it too soon to say? Just thinking ahead, I suppose....
šŸ‘¶ This First-Grader is Out-Trading Wall Street?!
This was a fun one I wanted to share this morning. Why You Need to Watch This Video: Think the stock market requires decades of experience and a finance degree? Think again. This hilarious video shows a kid—likely still in elementary school—breaking down a technical trading strategy using "Ballinger" (Bollinger) Bands and RSI [00:04]. While he admits he doesn't entirely know what the numbers mean [00:26], his "overpowered" strategy hits its profit target perfectly [01:21]. It’s a funny, chaotic, and eye-opening reminder that sometimes the market is simpler than we make it out to be. Why It’s Engaging: The Playground Millionaire: The podcat host jokes that this kid is making "generational wealth" and funding it by selling Roblox setups and a playground trading courses [00:45]. Pure Luck or Hidden Genius?: Watching a young kid set up long positions and talk about "market shifts" while the host has a minor existential crisis is pure comedic gold [01:04]. The Ultimate Plot Twist: Forget AI taking over our careers—we might all just get replaced by a first-grader with a Minecraft account [01:31]. Thanks @Eric Seto for investment accelerator - I can now understand this 6 year-old, and read his chart.šŸ˜† 🤣

@Monica Bernard Haha! I'm starting to teach my 28-year-old son now, and thinking he would have been similar to that first grader as he was all-in on MineCraft at the time. But honestly, I was taking a break from the market then because it was after the dot.com crash. Kids are truly amazing!
Bitcoin - potential for a sell-off
MSTR (strategy) and other crypto stocks, are at risk of being delisted from major indices if MSCI will move ahead with this proposal. This can trigger a broader sell-off for bitcoin and other crypto. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/msci-delisting-crypto-stocks-could-173803552.html

That article is five-months old. Have you seen recent news that leads you to believe this is still a concern?

@Cris Bob I read that Saylor moved some BTC to Coinbase, however, it is a fraction of what MSTR holds, like around $400 million vs $62 billion worth of holdings. While $400 million makes headlines, it is literally about 0.7% of Strategies holdings. It may just be a temporary strategy to pay the dividends of the STRC holders who help fund his purchases, while BTC finishes its consolidation. It may just be that folks out there are looking for headlines. Now, that's not to say that Saylor isn't using this as a "test the market and see what happens" maneuver prior to making larger trades. But ultimately, he still controls an enormous amount of BTC and his ultimate strategy is to see the value of BTC and MSTR climb.
You got to love Trump lol
On May 8th, President Trump told everyone to "go out and buy a Dell." 19 days later, on May 27th, Dell was awarded a $9.7B contract with the US Pentagon. Today, Dell, $DELL, reported stronger than expected earnings and the stock surged +30%. Dell's stock is now up +80% since May 8th, adding +$120 BILLION in market cap. -kobeissiletter

@Monica Bernard I did try to hop on his IBM ride last fall. I thought some government stake might help it. Perhaps ultimately it will, but whatever wave there was I was on the wrong side of it.
More interesting developments with Bitcoin
Although, I'm not conversant in trading futures, I imagine this developing story will ultimately impact the value of Bitcoin. SEC Approves Nasdaq Bitcoin Index Options, Expanding Derivatives

@Leon K Big boys have the "whale" sized money to swing the markets, I guess. Did you ever see "Who Killed the Electric Car"? It details how the auto and fuel industry killed the EV 2-3 decades ago because they needed time to maneuver around the industry to control it. Look at the industry now. So, when big boys push anything, it is always with one purpose. Protecting and lining their own bottom lines. Not trying to be cynical, just observant. And it will likely always be this way. Actually, sometimes it seems even more and more the case with bigger and bigger monopolies. Innovation prevails over time but often gets suppressed until the big boys are ready.
