Connectors & Agents (Paid ChatGPT versions)
Currently, I’m not connecting my work email or Google Drive to an LLM because both contain client and confidential information. At this point, there’s no reliable way (unless something launched very recently) to selectively restrict which folders are accessible. I know it depends on share settings, but if I connect my folders, am I risking a breach of the privacy and confidentiality agreements I have with clients? Also, as an employer, if one of my employees connects Drive or OneDrive, could they potentially access information they’re not authorized to see? Since these integrations send and retrieve data from OpenAI, I’m also wondering what exactly is being transmitted, even if the model history is turned off. My own Drive contains a large number of client folders, and I often share via open link rather than by direct user access (yes, I know that’s not the best option). Drive’s sharing interface can be clunky for recipients, which makes management trickier. Also, OpenAI themselves advise against putting credit card information into the system. So while I love the idea of an LLM sitting on top of my email and CMS, I’m proceeding with caution. In my experience, most client CMSs are “junkyards” of unmanaged content and poorly configured settings, which only adds to the risk. Anyone else struggling with Connector and agents with connectors to email and to drive!
