The work before the first prompt that turned into a small personal app
I wanted to share a project that I had been working on before I found Jake's Community. I've been cleaning out a little bit at a time and, full disclosure, this is a concept that I learned from Nate B. Jones. I know there are a few here in the community who have mentioned him. Nate calls it Prompt Zero, and it pairs very well with Jake's Module and foundation course on how to structure any prompt. https://promptzero.8signal.com/ I built this small web app for personal use and to share with my team, but feel free to create an account for yourself if you'd like. I also included all the questions that you would go through within the app right on the home page so you can grab them and use them in a notepad, using voice memo, using a pen and paper, whichever you prefer. Any constructive (or positive) feedback is greatly appreciated :) Sidenote: one of the improvements that I made, after beginning to implement some of the things I'm learning from Jake, I created a tone and voice guide that reads the way I often speak and I re-ran the home page through that so it sounded like a slightly exaggerated version of me :D
@Ruben Aguirre lol, here's what I created to keep my shit together. Now I'm thinking I should open source it 🤔 It's super fun to use :D
@Roc Lee eeeeeverything! 😂 TL;DR: MD editor/Calendar/Weekly planner/Tasks/Notes/Resources/Tracker/Notepad/File manager 🤪
"Engineering Challenge": Finding Time Between Diapers and Development
I often post about my wins with Claude Code or the progress on my book project, but there’s one part of the equation I haven’t touched on yet: Time. I’m lucky enough to be able to build a little during my work hours, but my primary focus is still being a Finance Manager. The real work happens when the house is finally quiet. But here is the reality: I have a 3-year-old and a 9-month-old. If you’ve been there, you know. My "second shift" starts after they are tucked in, but it’s always a gamble. Especially with a 9-month-old—you never really know how the night is going to go or how many times you’ll be woken up. The Internal Conflict: I’m a natural "A-person." I love waking up early and feeling fresh. But to get anything done on my private projects, I often have to push late into the night. I’m constantly trying to balance three things that all feel non-negotiable: Family Time: This is my fuel. I refuse to sacrifice being present with my kids. Sleep: As an early riser, I need sleep to function as a Finance Manager and a dad. Development: I have a deep drive to learn, build, and move my projects forward. The truth? Most days, it feels like I can only pick two. If I work late on a website or an automation, I’m a zombie the next morning. If I go to bed early to be a "good dad" at 6:00 AM, my projects stand still, which frustrates me. It’s a constant puzzle of trying to be "efficiently lazy" with the few hours I actually have. I don’t have a "5-step master plan" for this. I’m just navigating it one night at a time—sometimes winning, sometimes just trying to stay awake during a meeting. How do you guys balance this? For those of you with young kids, demanding jobs, and big goals—how do you find the space to create without burning out or missing the "golden years" with your family? I’m curious to hear how you prioritize when everything feels equally important. 👇
I have a 4 month old and a 6 year old. My son will go to Skool soon, so it's a bit easier. My little one usually sleeps through the night, but I totally get you. It takes months to actually create some sort of consistency in terms of what time/day you do what. I built an app to organize my stuff but it's still difficult.
@Allan Durhuus lol, I totally agree. Before kids I could always find time for everything, and if I pulled an all-nighter I could just sleep it off the next morning. Not true with kids 🤪
So Frustrated Right Now
Was anyone else affected by the Claude outage last evening April 29? When it came back I lost access to my account. This evening I spent two hours convincing Fin (the support AI) that it was an Anthropic issue, not my computer or browser. Now Fin says they will investigate but I don't get a support ticket number and Fin won't confirm a time frame or even promise that I will get a response. I realize my $20 does not buy concierge service but losing access indefinitely is very discouraging. If I want to keep going I have to start again in a new account. I have Github repos for the project and the project context but I only committed half of yesterday's work, and I no longer have access to the session I was working in or all the prior ones. I won't just sit here, but what should I do? Should I show my repos to some other tool? Bite the bullet and drop a new $20? Those sessions and my past ones will never meet.
When I use the terminal, it's super easy. I just switch to my other Claude account in the browser and then just type in /login in the session, this logs me into my other Claude Code account mid-session without losing the context.
🌶️ CINCO DE MAYO FIRESALE — STARTS NOW 🌶️
Locked in for the next 5 days only. Ends May 5th at 10:00 AM EST. No exceptions. 🎉 Premium: $27 → $14/mo 🎉 VIP: $97 → $67/mo The closest you'll get to our original launch pricing. We're doing this because the community has shown up for us, and we want to show up back. 🤝 🔥 Already a member? Read this carefully. To lock in the new rate, you need to: 1. Cancel your current plan 2. Resign under the new price That's the only way the system can apply the new rate. We have way too many members for manual refunds, so we can't refund anyone who just signed up at current pricing. But the savings stack month over month, so if you plan to stick around (and you should 😁), the math works out fast. 🚫 A few ground rules: Please do not DM myself or Jake about pricing, exceptions, or extensions. We love you, but we're a small team and we need to stay focused on building. Everyone gets the same window. Everyone gets the same deal. If you miss it, you miss it. We'll do more things for the community down the road. ⏰ The clock: 🟢 LIVE NOW 🔴 Locks May 5th, 10:00 AM EST - Premium gets you The Vault and Afternoon Tea calls. - VIP gets you The Drawing Room, High Tea, and bespoke folder builds from Jake himself. If you've been on the fence, this is the moment. 🚀 Tag a friend who needs to be in here. Let's make Cinco a movement. 🎊 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Totally worth it 🤝
@Aaron Beadles hey man, great to see you! 🤝 Totally agree, and I'm having a blast with the people I've met here too 🙌

It didn't shift much for me, but I loved the history and the visuals. I'm not a programmer but for years I've been interested in how at the bottom it's just binary (more or less).
