Truthful Tuesday 🫶 I’m not always regulated either
I’ll be honest with you… I talk a lot about regulation, capacity, slowing things down all of it. But I don’t live in that state 24/7. Last week I pushed too hard. Felt great while I was doing it… then bang flat. My body slowed me down before I chose to ⚠️ That’s the bit people don’t always say. Even when you understand your brain… even when you’ve got awareness… you can still override it. You can still ignore the signs. You can still end up drained. This isn’t about getting it perfect. It’s about: • catching it earlier • recovering quicker • not turning on yourself when it happens So if today you’re feeling off, slow, foggy… you haven’t failed. You’ve just hit your current capacity. What I’ve been doing today: • slowed everything right down 🧠 • no pressure to “perform” • focused on one or two small things • gave my system space to settle Nothing fancy. Just support instead of force. If you’re in that place today… you’re not on your own 🤝 👉 If this hits, drop a “same” or one word for where you’re at today. No pressure to explain it perfectly.

I’ve been reading your classroom materials this morning, and I feel like you have defined what I know about me my whole life but didn’t know this was any different than anyone else. I’m only recently learning about ADHD, and I’m surprised I made it to 44 without ever being diagnosed. I’m just meow getting to the good stuff in your classroom… the regulate module. But I need a little time to process first. Not sure why your explanation feels so much more complete than others I read. But it totally hits home. Thank you. I feel seen.

@Stephen Cassidy Thank you!
How ADHDreamer works
How ADHDreamer Works If you’ve ever joined a community and immediately felt overwhelmed this is the opposite of that. Here’s everything you need to know. Nothing more. 1. You don’t need to keep up There is no schedule to follow here. No “Day 1, Day 2, Day 3.” No falling behind. You can dip in, disappear, and come back whenever you need. That’s not failure here it’s expected. 2. Participation is optional (and flexible) In ADHDreamer: - Reading counts - Reacting counts - Commenting one sentence counts - Saying nothing counts You don’t need to post to belong. This is a low-pressure space by design. 3. What this space is for ADHDreamer exists to help you: - stop forcing yourself into systems that don’t stick - reduce shame around inconsistency - build life and work around how your brain actually functions - move toward more freedom at your own pace This is not about fixing you. It’s about designing better systems. 4. What this space is NOT This is not: - a hustle group - a productivity bootcamp - a “just be more disciplined” space - a place where motivation is expected If you’re exhausted by those environments, you’re safe here. 5. Where to start (if you want to) If you feel like it, head to the Start Here thread and answer: - one system you’re tired of forcing - one thing you want more freedom from That’s it. No long intros required. If you don’t feel like it skip it. 6. How often I’ll post I’ll usually post once or twice a week. Short reflections. System shifts. Reframes that help things feel lighter. You don’t need to watch everything or respond to everything. Take what helps. Leave the rest. Final thing to know You don’t need to “get ready” for this space. You don’t need to perform. You don’t need to be consistent. Just being here is enough. If you ever feel overwhelmed, step away the space will still be here when you come back. Welcome. You belong here 💙

This is a great post to resurface for the new folks. I’m in soooooooo many communities. This is one of my go-tos now because I don’t have to follow a plan and can just pop in and engage with whatever makes sense for me WITHOUT MASKING! 🎭
A different way to think about progress
One thing many people with ADHD discover over time is this: Your nervous system matters more than your motivation. Most advice we hear growing up is about pushing harder. More discipline. More willpower. More productivity. But if your nervous system is overloaded, exhausted, or running on stress… No amount of motivation will fix that. When your nervous system is supported, something interesting happens. Your thinking gets clearer. Your energy stabilises. Your focus comes back more naturally. You don’t have to fight your brain as much. This is why learning how to regulate your nervous system can change so much. Not perfectly. Not instantly. But steadily. Because the goal isn’t forcing your brain to perform. The goal is creating the conditions where your brain can actually function well. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is simply slow the system down. ☺️

I woke up this morning with my nervous system on high alert with spicy muscles, a tingly spine, and a nebulous head throb. It took most of the day to shake it. I really need to embrace breaks throughout the week.

@Stephen Cassidy You’re absolutely right. I used to push through that. In fact I spent whole years of my life in that mode thinking it’s normal. But not anymore. I knew when I woke up that I had pushed too hard all week. And while it was an awesome week, I need to take breaks when I’m feeling great instead of waiting until my body is sounding off.

Over the last few weeks a few of us here have been talking about building communities on Skool and how powerful they can be when done properly. So I’ve created a new space called Skool Geeks. It’s a community specifically for people who want to: • build their own Skool community • learn how communities actually grow • connect with other community builders • share ideas and support each other What makes it exciting is that we already have some really experienced Skool community owners joining, people who are building incredible communities and are happy to share what they’re learning. That means real insight, real connections, and a chance to learn directly from others doing it. If that sounds interesting to you, you’re more than welcome to come and join us. No pressure at all just another space to learn and connect with some awesome builders. 👉 Skool Geeks Would be great to see some ADHDreamers in there too. Steve 🚀

The ADHD Overwhelm Stack📚
Most ADHD adults are carrying three layers of overwhelm simultaneously. 1️⃣ Mental Overwhelm 🧠 Too many thoughts running at the same time. Examples: • constant idea loops • unfinished thoughts • replaying conversations • trying to remember everything • racing mind at night The brain never fully switches off. Result: Mental fatigue before the day even begins. 2️⃣ Task Overwhelm 📋 This is the classic ADHD struggle. People look at their day and see: • too many tasks • no clear starting point • everything feels urgent The brain can’t prioritise. So instead of starting something… It starts nothing. 3️⃣ Emotional Overwhelm 💔 This is the hidden one. Years of ADHD struggles create emotional weight: • frustration • shame • feeling behind in life • pressure to keep up with others When emotional load builds, the nervous system becomes fragile. Even small tasks feel huge. Why This Matters When these three layers stack together, the brain goes into shutdown mode. People say things like: • “I’m paralysed.” • “My brain won’t work.” • “I know what to do but I can’t start.” That’s not laziness. That’s executive function overload.

@Stephen Cassidy Oh yay! I'm so grateful for those on my manic days. I have to slow myself down enough to facilitate them. I'm definitely grounding with you all!
