New Third-Eye guy!
I finally decided tonight seek out smaller perfumers and found that this is a BOS member. Had a little spray of the Red Rum and I have to say, this is impressive. Looking forward to giving these a real spin. Read nothing but good things here.

Gentlemen’s Nod are they worth looking into?
I have been deeply intrigued by Gentleman’s Nod, an American fragrance house based in Nebraska. They began as a shave soap and aftershave company but have since evolved into an artisan fragrance house collaborating with world-class perfumers—including a notable partnership with Zaharoff. I recently ordered four samples from their catalog of over 19 fragrances, and the customer service was exceptional. The shipping was fast, and the order arrived in a sturdy, well-branded box. To my surprise, they included four additional samples as a gift. They also took the time to include a handwritten thank-you note that named the person who packaged my order. In this case it may have been the owner Chris. These small, personal gestures truly make me want to support a small business that goes above and beyond. The Sample Lineup My Selections: • Toro Bravo: A bold, spirited fragrance featuring notes of bright citrus, warm spices, and a rugged leather finish. • Musashi: A meditative and complex blend of exotic woods, incense, and subtle hints of tea. • Damascus: A sophisticated, metallic-edged scent inspired by ancient steel, balanced with rich resins and spice. • Kensei: A vibrant, uplifting composition centered on Japanese citrus (Yuzu) and green, aromatic tea notes. The Bonus Samples: • Outlaw: A rebellious and smoky fragrance with a core of rugged leather, tobacco, and earthy undertones. • Mizukaze: A crisp, refreshing scent meant to evoke a cold mountain breeze, featuring mint, pine, and aquatic notes. • Juniper Reverie: A bright, gin-like botanical blend highlighted by sharp juniper berries and fresh forest greens. • Tusitala: A tropical and adventurous fragrance that mixes exotic fruits with warm, sun-drenched woods. I haven't tried them all yet, but between this and the haul I received from The Hellenist, I’m looking forward to a busy two weeks of sniffing; regardless of the scents, the stellar service has ensured I'll be supporting this house in the future!

The EDP Verses the EXTRAIT Question? What do you think?
A lot of people prefer the EDP over the extrait because the EDP usually hits that sweet spot between performance, price, and wearability. On paper, extrait sounds like it should automatically be better because it is more concentrated, but in real wear, that is not always how it plays out. Often, the EDP feels more open, brighter, and easier to smell in the air. It can come off more lively and project better, while the extrait may be smoother, denser, and more refined, but also quieter. That is where some people get disappointed with extrait. It may last a long time, but if it sits closer to the skin and does not give that same presence, some people will still enjoy the EDP more. Another big reason is versatility. EDPs are often easier to wear in more situations. They work better for daily wear, casual settings, work, and warmer weather. Extraits can lean heavier, richer, sweeter, or darker, which is great for some fragrances, but not always what people want all the time. Price matters too. Extraits usually cost more, and many people do not feel the price jump always matches the difference in enjoyment. If the EDP already smells great, performs well, and feels more wearable, many people would rather save the money and stick with that version. It also comes down to the scent profile itself. In a lot of cases, the EDP keeps more of the sparkle, freshness, and lift, while the extrait version smooths things out, adds thickness, and sometimes loses a bit of that energy. So even when people admit the extrait feels more luxurious, they still prefer the EDP because it feels more alive. That is really what it comes down to. More concentrated does not always mean better. Sometimes, better just means brighter, easier, more versatile, and more enjoyable to actually wear. That is why plenty of people still reach for the EDP even when the extrait is supposed to be the “premium” version.

For sure agree. It’s definitely something you have to smell fragrance by fragrance. Everything I’ve made is at 20% and I call it an EDP. But 20% could be called Parfum also. Generally EDP is 15-20 and Parfum is 20-25 and Extrait is like 25-30+ but no formal definition exists. And it also depends on the materials how much longevity, performance, sillage, projection, etc. so they’re all rule of thumbs. But generally the more oil, the more it’s a fixative and the less projection you get, so I agree with you EDP for me are the sweet spot.
