sotd Happyland Zzyzx Rd
An interesting first wear of this Happyland decant. Most of these need a few wears to be able to accurately describe, but I was able to track Zzyzx Rd today, so here are my thoughts. It opens moderately sweet, citrus, powdery, woody, floral and warm. Projection and sillage are moderate for an impressive 4 hrs, mild to 7hrs and a nice, long-lasting skin scent afterwards. The woody edge smooths out after 90 min, and it remains a very smooth iris fragrance, with some sweet, aromatic vapors. Similar to ATH's Homme, this is very versatile and can be dressed up or down, and would only be unsuitable for outdoor heat. A quality product at an excellent value from the house!

… a new Light Blue
— I might have to look into this one : ** A classic just got a little stronger. Dolce & Gabbana took the DNA of the original Light Blue and pushed it into a more concentrated Eau de Parfum version. Same Mediterranean energy... just with a little more presence. Right from the start you get that signature lemon and grapefruit burst. Bright, zesty, and clean - like fresh citrus cutting through ocean air. Then the fragrance settles into a crisp green apple heart. That juicy apple note is what gives Light Blue its recognizable freshness. It's slightly sweet but still very airy and refreshing. In the drydown, rosemary comes through with a subtle herbal edge that keeps everything feeling masculine, clean, and natural. Notes Breakdown Top Notes: Lemon, Grapefruit Middle Notes: Green Apple Base Notes: Rosemary Main Accords: Citrus • White Floral • Musky • Green & How it smells: Fresh citrus and apple with a light herbal backbone. Bright, clean, and effortless. Q: Best for: - Summer - Daytime - Beach / vacation - Easy everyday wear Light Blue has always been one of the most recognizable summer fragrances in the designer world, and this EDP version keeps that DNA while giving it a little more strength and longevity. **

Very interesting. I'll give it a sniff.
SOTD: Michael Malul Citizen Jack Parfum
The older more mature brother to Citizen Jack Absolute. An excellent daily wear with mass appeal and stellar longevity and projection on my skin. If you thought the Absolute was a bit too youthful this one tones down the fruitiness and ups the woods so definitely worth a look.

I agree with you on the absolute; a little too fruity for me. But this one sounds great. I've only tried 3 from this house so far, but I'll get around to trying more.
Initio Oud for Greatness (1/3)
First from the house. I thought of reviewing Side Effect but I had already worn a boozy fragrance today, so I went with OFG instead. I’ve heard great things about this one, so here are my thoughts. The opening is fantastic. If anyone still doesn’t understand the term “warm spicy”, this one will make you say “I understand it now”. Sweet saffron, spicy nutmeg, and aromatic lavender. Super high quality with perfect blend and balance. For the first 15 minutes I kept going 😗🥰. One of the best openings I’ve personally smelled. This is my also my first oud-dominant fragrance and I can say I still don’t fully understand it. It smelled like a mix of sweet, sharp, balsamic, woody, and fruity? A lot going on, but luckily it didn’t dominate until around hr 2. After that it was mostly the mids and base. The “oud”, sharp almost metallic patchouli, and animalic musk. Very mature and gentlemanly. This is where it gets super polarising. But my trained nose loves it. Many would probably be offended once the opening fades. Masculine and umbral. I really liked the opening but from there it slightly dropped towards the end of the fragrance. Also super reminiscent of Sauvage Elixir. Performance is where I heard the most praise about OFG. The first 2-3 hours were very potent. I did about five sprays, though it was a sample so around 0.12 ml. After the 3 hr mark it started settling, and once it fully dried down around hr 6 it became a proper skin scent. I expect it to stay like this for another couple of hours, so roughly 8.5-9 hrs of lifespan which aligns with a standard EDP. Not quite enough to sing praises about though. Maybe newer batches are weaker, or maybe it’s just the sample’s performance. Still a respectable showing. Price isn’t too big of a deal. I could get a 50 ml for £150 which isn’t bad. But I do have to say it left me wanting more. More importantly the main issue is that I think I’m not ready for this yet. This fragrance is very overpowering. It needs a lot of confidence or status. My career has just started, so I can’t quite project that level of boss energy yet. Maybe 5-7 years down the line when I’m in a stronger position, I could wear this comfortably.

Great review Srinesh!
Quick Update Post Surgery.
Went to the doctor's office. He pulled out the Stents, and I was worried, as with no fragrance on and, of course, new antibiotics to go in topically, I could breathe but no smell. I had to stop at a tire factory to pay for Automobile tires, a large warehouse, and as I went into Will Call to pay all, I could smell the odor of brand new automobile Rubber tires. So, although it will heal, I am pretty sure that it hasn't affected my sense of smell!!! 2 days out and I must say it feels nice with no obstructions other than crud LOL

I started my fragrance journey in Dec 2024, and I am still in discovery mode! My focus is on sampling the many houses that are available.
