Interesting start
Just started the ADHD Awakening Assessment and already realized something. The years I spent feeling "not enough" in a sales role weren't proof I was broken. They were proof I was forcing a brain wired for depth and integrity into a system built for something completely different. That reframe alone is worth sitting with. Roll on tomorrow!

I can sell ice to an eskimo.... BUT ONLY IF I BELIEVE IN WHAT IM SELLING...
Apparently this is called something fancy…
Ok everyone… onto the next Kat-ism...... Who else hears a totally normal sentence and your brain immediately turns it into a full-on concert… either in your head or OUT LOUD? Mine is mostly out loud... Like someone says “you’re beautiful” and suddenly I’m singing you’re beautiful, it’s true… like I’m on stage somewhere.... No im seriously.... Well I looked it up and apparently there’s actually a name for this. It’s called involuntary musical imagery (aka earworms)—which is when a song or melody pops into your head automatically without you trying. And in my case, it seems to get triggered by something called semantic priming, which is basically when your brain hears a word or phrase and instantly connects it to a song or memory tied to it. So basically: my brain hears words..... finds a song .....starts a concert I did not schedule... Best part of this, (hold on one moment, i'm practically rolling on the floor right now in laughter) there are three of us in the house that have it... so my husband ( who is the only one in the family that is not neurodivergent) will say something, and then all three of us Bust into song all at the exact same time... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 my husband will just shake his head and walk away..... Am I on my own on this one or is this another “why are we like this” club situation?? P.s. this is one of my idiosyncrasies that I truly don't mind. I certainly can't say the same for other people around me though...🤣🤣🤣🤣sorry not sorry
Confession time… don’t judge me... Or Do, Your Choice
Okay… slightly gross question, so apologies in advance Does anyone else have a picking problem? Like… if there’s a scab on my body, it’s basically a personal challenge. My brain is like, “oh, we’re doing this.” but at the same time i dobit without even thinking about doing it.... I know that is a contradiction 🤔 I’ve been like this for as long as I can remember, so I finally looked it up and apparently it’s actually a thing called Dermatillomania (aka Excoriation Disorder). It falls under body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), kind of in the OCD family. Just curious if I’m alone in this or if this is one of those “why are we like this” club situations 🤔 🤣🥰

🎶 A song for the playlist, Sammy - as promised on todays Call! 🎶
Hey Sammy @Sammy Boyster (and anyone else building out their music list), I promised you a song, and since a few of us are loving music with messages that really land, here's one for the collection. Loved what @Jim Ebbelaar Sage and @Marion Steed created together, so clever, what a brave and beautiful thing to share your gorgeous voice with all of us like that - what a wonderful gift you have. 🎤✨ That reminded me how much lyrics can carry us through the hard bits. This one has been on repeat for me. The words just spoke straight to where I am right now. I'm sharing two versions: 🎵 Miley Cyrus - The Climb: https://open.spotify.com/track/5x5JM1BSB6vollcIzDocqT?si=b2b4289d56d4417d 🎵 Stan Walker - The Climb: https://open.spotify.com/track/24xSzXhbnJPrT5PE6SAtYM?si=bed16a8666704bdf (our home grown taelnt from Aotearoa - NZ - gives me the chills everytime ) This one found me at exactly the right moment. Big health reset, a career pivot that absolutely rocked my ego and identity after extended burnout and the daily climb back to myself. These lyrics just landed: So when I hear these lyrics, they stop being a pop song and start being a map: "There's always gonna be another mountain I'm always gonna wanna make it move Always gonna be an uphill battle Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose Ain't about how fast I get there Ain't about what's waiting on the other side It's the climb." And this bit, for those days when the ADHD brain tells you you'll never get there: "I can almost see it, that dream I'm dreaming But there's a voice inside my head saying You'll never reach it..." The mountain isn't the problem. It's just the terrain. And the hard moments aren't the things to push past - they're the ones we'll remember most.
