Finally...
Yesterday I got up early, had a light breakfast, did some stretching, fed the cats (most important), made a little lunch to take with and got out to the courts early. There was only one other guy in the whole 8 acre park (who was doing well shooting hoops - best I've seen there). I kept stretching as I warmed up... and started to feel it... I was skating better and feeling better. Did some drills - went well. I took breaks when I felt tired, had lunch and still the park was empty - nice and peaceful. I got back on the court and skated very well! Like I'd been wanting to since day one. I did another hour, and as I left, then people started to trickle in. Perfect timing... I like it when it's not too "peopley" out. Later, I still felt good, great actually, not tired or achy, so I didn't over-do it. I hope you guys have these kind of days too (just keep at it - they happen). We need a few good ones to kinda reset. Upon reflection, me and that kid on the court had something in common... we practiced, alone, without help or distractions. I wish I'd told him I admired his playing. Maybe he thought the same about me, but I think we respected each other's space and time. Anyhow, it took me ten months, but I managed to have a very good skate day ...finally. Mar 20, 2026

OMg Albert, you are so good! I feel so inspired after watching your videos and you make those backward cross overs look easy. I am at the stage of just doing one cross over at a time... and wobbling at the end lol
Improved Skating Skills!
I joined this community just over two weeks ago, and since then, I’ve been practicing the fundamentals over and over at home, hundreds of times, despite my very limited space. It’s been a slow but steady improvement. When I finally get to the rink once or twice a week, I get to test out what I’ve been working on, and honestly, it’s been transformational. Today, I was able to do transitions with eagle steps. At first, it felt shaky, but after just an hour of practice, it started to feel like second nature. I’ve recommended this course to the other newbie girlies in my group. This whole experience has been amazing so far, and I can’t wait to keep improving and eventually master this.

This Yoga mat is a life saver for real. I practice all the transitions, balance on one leg, eagle, can't do toes stand for the life of me but it's made my learning phase much easier.

@Jay West Thank you and you are doing great too. I seen them progress vids :). Yeah, the small space is a pain but I will try to make it work best I can. I go to the ring twice a week but everything I do at home goes out the window and I have to readjust for the bigger space.
