Property site vs Project site

I see the project site has download links and the property site is basically for show but how do I share a link for just the property site without the download clickies? One more thing, is the only way to preview the site to publish it? I see once you hit that publish button the web search engines can find it even if it isn't ready to be shown. in cloud pane there is the option for only those with the link can view
