Holding yarn in Colourwork

Hi ho 😊 how do you all hold your yarn during the colourwork? Are you knitting continental?

I switch between having the yarn separately and picking it up every time and having both on one finger, if the floats are longer, because securing the floats is easier for me that way. However, I struggle a lot with the tension of the dominant yarn, when having both on the hand.
