Longevity = the length of time a person lives, and more importantly, the quality of that life over time.
Two components:
1. Lifespan - Total years lived
2. Healthspan - Years lived without disease, dysfunction, or decline
Yoga for longevity improves lifespan and healthspan directly by stabilizing the systems that drive aging and decline.
Longevity is driven by how well the body maintains and repairs itself across key systems:
- Cellular health (mitochondria, DNA repair)
- Nervous system regulation
- Hormonal balance
- Immune function
- Inflammation control
What actually impacts longevity:
- Metabolic health (blood sugar, insulin sensitivity)
- Muscle mass and strength
- Cardiovascular efficiency
- Brain health and cognitive function
- Stress and nervous system regulation
- Sleep quality
- Nutrition and micronutrient status
The goal is to live a great, long, healthy, and happy life. We can only do that if we are taking care of our body, energy, mind, and soul. Yoga hits all of these different layers in different ways. We'll be adding more videos and longevity-aligned specialists into the great to help you learn more about the different ways we can optimized our health.
