Happy Field Watch Friday!
What to say about this one? Right up front, this is not the watch I ordered. Or, thought I ordered anyway. The lead listing photos for this watch and video on Amazon showed a beautiful green bezel. Buried in the watch details was the word "Gray," along with the image (last in the stream) of a watch with a grey bezel. I missed that, assuming I was ordering the green that was staring me in the face. And the listing choice indicated "Green." So, feeling a good bit mislead, but lesson learned — again — buyer beware. So, when it arrived, I was shocked to find this watch with a grey bezel.
My immediate thoughts were to return it. But then the more I looked at it, the grey kind of grew on me, and then I began to think that this one, with the more neutral grey bezel, might be a fun one to play around with, perhaps even turning into a strap monster in the end. Together with the classy black dial, perhaps looking good with almost any NATO, rubber, or leather strap I might put on it. Blue, Red, Orange, Yellow, Grey/Blue Striped, Red/Yellow Striped, and more — the options could be endless. So, already wanting to begin switching up straps in the new year and this picked up for under $35.00, I decided to keep this one, recoginizing it as perhaps a blessing in disguise.
In addition, being more plain with the simple grey/black presentation, for me it "looks" like a real field watch. It seems to fit the part. And in all fairness, it is a Timex after all, and the light-up dial is amazing. And, I do really like it. So, in the end, the watch I "didn't" order, is now added to the collection.
My question for everyone then — What are your suggestions? Which NATO strap color/design should I try first with this one?
— Grey 39mm Resin Case with Acrylic Lens
— Black Dial with Date Window at 3 O'clock
— Full Arabic Numerals
— Indiglo Light-up Dial with Luminous Hands
— Adjustable Grey/Green 20mm Nylon Strap with Buckle/Clasp
— Water resistant to 50m (165 ft)
Best wishes for a Fantastic Field Watch Friday!
