New Watch - Lorus PC32-X190
I bought a new watch last week.
I’ve not mentioned it until now because, well, it’s a cheapie. Sub £20. It felt hot-on-the-heels of my Bulova Jet Star, which is Top Watch for me. So the Lorus has sat in my watch box and waited to come out.
I’m very new to this, and I’m enjoying the slow reveal of what kind of collector I’m going to be. I set out to be a three-figure watch collector (value, not number owned), looking for five or six pieces, and I’m sticking to that, broadly. But there’s nuance, and development, and learning, and it’s fun.
For example, I bought a fake Tudor (unintentionally). Am I a collector who rocks a fake watch? You never know until the opportunity arises. (The answer? I reach for it much less often than I thought, but perhaps a little more than I should.)
During April, and the “30 day different watch challenge”, I felt sad that I couldn’t play along. Maybe five or six watches is not enough. Do I require more?
And as for cheapies… Do I care about the price tag on my wrist? Is that an integral part of my makeup? Am I a collector that values value?
So. My Lorus. Cheap, from a Seiko heritage. Very cool green, clear Field style, great strap. And I love the orange second hand.
Tomorrow, and for the next three days, I start my customary three-pic photo posts that show off my new purchase, in alignment with the prophecy. 👍
