Grail watch: Cartier Calibre
So I've had my eye on a line from Cartier that could be in reach if the stars align with work for me this year -- the "Calibre" line, which has been discontinued but is still available from grey market and pre-owned dealers. They feature an automatic movement and have a kind of distinctive dressy but casual style with large roman numerals, large below center seconds readout, and date window with room to see the day before and after today's date (so that if the watch's hands happen to be over the current date, you can infer what date it is by looking above and below the hands!). The only problem is I can't figure out which one I like more. You can pick up gently pre-owned versions of either for around ~$3,750 from gray market dealers. The case sizes are the same (42" case), it's just that the pic I attached of the dive watch is more zoomed in.
What do you think?
"Calibre de Cartier" - black face, display case back, leather strap (although it looks pretty cool with a rubber strap too...)
"Calibre de Cartier Diver" - black face, no display case back but it's a dive watch; black rubber strap
