Hello! We joined a couple weeks ago, aiming for a calmer Jack Russel (if that’s even possible), less lead pulling, impulse control, boundaries, door manners and maybe become friends with the cats?

Charlie is about 7 mths old and sleeps in his crate all night from when we got him home at 9 weeks. he’s in there from 7-9 hours.

Weekdays he is in the backyard for 8-9 hours on his own. Seems to sleep all day in his outside crate as my camera never catches him barking or playing on his own. Recently starting sending him to doggy daycare 2-3 days a week.

When we are home he runs around the house and sometimes chills with the kids on the sofa. He only uses crate for sleeping.

Do I need to start putting him in the crate during the day when I want him to be calm? I don’t want him to associate it with punishment.
