Bubbles under a microscope
Bubble film colors are caused by thin-film interference, with thickness ranging from roughly 10 nm to 1,000 nm. Because these thicknesses align with the wavelength of visible light (400β700 nm), the varying thicknesses reflect specific colors. The thickness changes due to gravity, evaporation and air currents.
