@Andrew Brooks it was an epic, wild ride through the possibilities of life and magic. Still one of my favs and indeed it is time for another read.
The Myth of the "Man Card"
I was out with friends the other night listening to a great local musician play covers of some of the best hits from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. The atmosphere was relaxed, the kind of evening where nostalgia mixes with laughter, good food and a few drinks. The conversation naturally shifted from the songs being played to the concerts we had attended in the past, and eventually to the “bucket list” acts we each wanted to see before they stopped touring. Names began to fly across the table: Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, AC/DC, Eminem, Jelly Roll, and dozens more. Then it was my turn. I’ve always like songwriters that tell a story so I casually mentioned that I’d like to catch P!nk someday. And that’s when it happened. The joke. The judgment. The reminder of an unwritten code. “Careful, we’ll have to take your man card.” It was meant as humour, but the message was unmistakable. Certain tastes, behaviours, or interests are apparently off-limits if you want to keep your membership in the club of traditional masculinity. Even in 2026, the spector of the “man card” looms large. THE BURDEN The concept of the “man card” is one of those cultural artifacts that you’d think we’d long buried, but it survives - mostly in jest, and it reflects something deeper: the policing of masculinity. At its core, the idea suggests that being a man is a fragile status, always at risk of being revoked if you stray from prescribed norms. If you admit to enjoying a female pop artist, showing too much emotion, or knowing your way around a laundry machine, you risk being called out. This pressure to conform is not harmless and it comes from all genders. It reduces manhood to a checklist of clichés: enjoy sports, drink beer, lift heavy things, remain stoic, avoid vulnerability, and never admit admiration for something coded as feminine. It teaches men that they must constantly perform to the ideal of a pre-dispositioned gender; type-casted into a role that discourages stepping outside of invisible boundaries for fear of ridicule or exclusion.

Hey Patrick it's good to meet you and thank you @Rositsa Aleksandrova for tagging me. it is indeed a very important and valuable conversation...... one that I have been having with many people, especially because my chosen path does not fit the general masculine paradigm - unless your a perve that just likes to touch women's bodies for your own gratification. What you bring up here is very much a part of the zeitgeist and of the greater Conversation that is happening in many places around how we shift the current social structure and paradigm. Read Raine Eisler's "the chalice in the blade"… It'll help give some context to what you're putting out here. I wrote this article on Substack I think early last year sometime. And just an FYI - P!nk is a serious badass both as an artist and as a human being that speaks to the changes we are needing to make in the world. She is impressive..... If you ever want to have more conversation around this and compare notes.... hit me up in the DMs

Hi Tribers! Remember our Tribe Joy Quest - Guessing Game, where I asked you what makes a REAL Master chef different from regular chefs?? In this post here. Anywho…. we have at least 2 REAL master chefs in here - @Jenny Rader-Bakos & @Andrew Brooks. I first asked in their communities before I asked here. Cuz ya know, their communities are full of chefs…. And NO ONE GUESSED!!!! For several days already…. I felt bad and almost caved in. Almost! 😅 no one guessed until NOW!! @Andrew Brooks just guessed the correct answer!!!!! 🌸🌸🌸 a good chef makes all kinds of delish yummies out of leftovers of whatever they are making! 🌸🌸🌸🌸 That’s why the video I shared earlier w @Andrew Brooks making vinaigrette out of older cherries was a major clue!!! Just like @Jenny Rader-Bakos didn’t throw away the pulp when we were making pumpkin tofu but instead we made crackers out of it! And also, she didn’t throw away the lay and used it for smoothies - protein packed! I made coconut rice out of it… You see, the answer is so simple staring us right in our faces, we just complicate things. Most of the time!! Congrats 🎈🎊🎉 @Andrew Brooks 🌸🩷💃🙌🫶🍉❤️💜💗🧜‍♀️💚🥰🌸🦄💃🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷 yay!
