In this community event, we covered two important tinnitus recovery topics and a couple of personal/community updates.
First, we talked about the difference between coping, control, and habituation — and why coping tools can be helpful in the moment, but are not the same as long-term habituation. We also discussed the difference between helpful control, which focuses on your response, and unhelpful control, which often turns into monitoring, checking, and trying to force tinnitus to change.
Then we talked about tinnitus fluctuations — why tinnitus can feel better for a while and then suddenly become more noticeable again, why this is often part of the habituation process, and how to respond when the sound changes without falling back into fear, checking, or frustration.
I also shared a personal update about why June has been a little slower for content and community activity, and I introduced a new tool I’m building for the community: a more personalized AI-based tinnitus support tool trained on my tinnitus content, frameworks, and coaching approach.
