Boundaries, Energy, and the Teacher’s Heart
Dear Teacher,
Teaching is heart work. It’s also energy work.
And most teachers were never taught how to hold boundaries that protect both.
This month, I want to remind you that your compassion is not an infinite resource, nor is it supposed to be.
It’s okay to set limits.
It’s okay to say no.
It’s okay to not take on every student’s emotional landscape.
It’s okay for your teaching to remain teaching — not therapy, not rescue, not sacrifice.
The lineage I trained in teaches something vital: yoga adapts to the individual, but the teacher does not collapse themselves to meet every individual’s needs.
So this month, remember to hold your centre and teach from your centre. Let your boundaries support your longevity.
You are allowed to protect the energy that allows you to serve.
With steadiness,
Ann-See
