How Do I Stop Overthinking Conversations?
I didn’t know how the conversation would go. That was the uncomfortable part.
There was something I wanted to talk about with someone I love and I couldn’t predict how she would respond. I could say something, open the conversation and discover what she thought… or I could keep it to myself.
I chose the conversation and then I did something that matters more to me than simply finding the courage to speak. I listened.
I didn’t need the conversation to end with a particular answer. I could hear her thoughts, consider them and enjoy talking together about what could be possible.
For a woman carrying a big vision, I think that’s an important kind of freedom.
There are conversations we can’t rehearse all the way to the ending. We can’t know exactly what a team member will say, how someone we love will respond or whether another person will see what we see.
Wisdom still matters. Discernment still matters.
But certainty isn’t always available before the conversation begins.
Sometimes we get to speak thoughtfully, listen well and trust Holy Spirit with what happens next.
💬 If you had to choose one, which is harder for you?
