🏛️ Sunday Stoa | What Are You Giving Power To?
“You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” — Marcus Aurelius There’s a big difference between having a problem and allowing that problem to control your entire day. Someone says something that pisses you off. Something goes wrong at work. Plans fall apart. You get bad news. We can't always control what shows up in front of us. But we do have a say in what happens next. That doesn’t mean ignoring problems or pretending everything is fine. It means dealing with what needs to be dealt with without handing it control over your thoughts, your mood, and your actions. That’s where the real work of Stoicism happens. Not when everything is going well. When something happens that immediately pulls you toward anger, frustration, fear, or anxiety, and you’re able to catch yourself before it takes over. So here's the question for the Forge today: What's something happening in your life right now that you can't completely control? And more importantly... What part of it CAN you control? Drop it below. I'm curious how everyone interprets this one and puts it into practice in their own life.

🔥 WELCOME TO THE STOIC FORGE 🔥
⚔️ Welcome to the Forge, Brothers
We’ve had quite a few new guys join us recently, so I wanted to officially welcome you all to The Stoic Forge. Welcome: 👉 @Jacob Grobler 👉 @Mike Mixon 👉 @Woj Cis 👉 @Elijah M 👉 @Mike Schade 👉 @Mike Johnson First thing, introduce yourself in the comments. Tell us a little about who you are, where you’re from, and what you're hoping to work on while you're here. Then head over to the Classroom and start with Foundations of Stoicism. That’s always the first place I recommend. It'll give you a better understanding of Stoicism and, more importantly, how we can actually apply these principles to our lives today. From there, explore the rest of the Classroom. There are plenty of lessons, tools, and resources here to help you improve mentally, physically, and in how you approach your life. That’s why we’re all here. Learn. Apply. Improve. And help the brothers around you do the same. Welcome to the Forge. 👊⚔️

🏛️ Sunday Stoa | Is the Obstacle Actually the Way?
"The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.” — Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 5.20» This is one of those Stoic ideas that sounds simple until you really think about it. Something gets in your way. A setback. A failure. A difficult person. Something completely outside the plan. Our first instinct is usually to see it as something preventing us from moving forward. Marcus Aurelius seemed to see it differently. So I'm curious how you guys interpret this one. What does “what stands in the way becomes the way” mean to you? And have you ever had an obstacle in your life that actually ended up pushing you in a better direction? Drop your interpretation below. Quick side note: If you haven't read The Obstacle Is the Way by Ryan Holiday, I highly recommend giving it a read. He takes this Stoic idea and does a great job of showing how it can actually be applied to the obstacles we face in modern life.
