Train the Man, Not Just the Body
Most people think the gym is about building muscle. It isn't. The weight doesn't care how your day went. The bar doesn't care if you're motivated. It only responds to effort. That's why training is one of the greatest Stoic practices there is. Every workout is a chance to practice discipline, patience, and resilience. You don't leave the gym stronger because you wanted to. You leave stronger because you showed up. What's one physical goal you're working toward right now? It could be strength, endurance, consistency, fat loss, or simply getting back into the routine. Let's hear it below. 👇

Mine right now is consistency, but I also have a specific target I'm chasing: 20 strict pull-ups in a row.

No excuses, Actions
Nature doesn't care why you can't. It just sets the challenge and waits. Show up. Excuses don't conquer mountains.

I've caught myself making excuses after long days at work, but I've learned I'd rather be tired and proud than comfortable and disappointed.
For those who feel lost.
Out of place? Good. You’re not meant to blend. Feelings, beliefs, desires - yours alone. No one mirrors you exactly. But every mirror teaches you something.

I think a lot of men mistake feeling out of place as a sign they're on the wrong path, when often it's a sign they're finally thinking for themselves. Every conversation, every challenge, and every setback gives us another mirror to examine our character. The goal isn't to fit in, it's to become the kind of man who stands firm in his values, regardless of the crowd
My mornings
Before my boxing drills I have my over night oats and coffee (not pictured) with my copy of Meditations.

That's a great Stoic way to start the day!
The Story You Tell Yourself
A Stoic lesson that changed my perspective: The event isn't what controls you. The story you tell yourself about the event does. You miss a workout. "I've failed." Or... "I missed one day. I'll be back tomorrow." A client says no. "I'm not good enough." Or... "One rejection doesn't define me." The obstacle stays the same. Your judgment is what changes. Today, pay attention to the story running through your mind. If it's making you weaker, rewrite it with truth, not excuses. What's one story you've stopped telling yourself that made you a stronger man?

@Jeff Taormina It truly is a blessing to be able to grow old especially being healthy in body and mind as we age.

@Jeff Taormina that's why I always give a nod to the older guys in the gym!
