Welcome to The Standard First System
This community is for youth coaches who are ready to move from chaos and guesswork to structured, measurable progress. The Standard First system is built on a simple principle: We build standards first. Everything else follows. Inside this community you’ll learn the framework for developing young athletes through: • clear coaching standards • strong movement foundations • structured programming • purposeful training sessions Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing the core ideas behind the system and how they apply in real coaching environments. If you’re here, you’re serious about developing athletes properly. Let’s build it the right way. Start with the Standards module in the Classroom. —Lee Johnson Standard First Performance

🔔 NEW: Stay Ready System (In-Season)
I’ve added a simple system for athletes to maintain their speed, strength, and fitness during the season. This isn’t extra work. It’s the minimum standard to stop performance from dropping off. 📌 What it is:A 30-minute session to be completed 1–2x per week 📌 Why it matters:Most athletes lose progress during the season — not because they stop training completely, but because they stop doing the basics consistently. This fixes that. 👉 You’ll find it in the classroom now in the downloadable toolkit Use it. Track it. Stay consistent. High Standards. Real Results.

What Progress Actually Looks Like
Most programs talk about improvement. We measure it — and we show it. This short highlight is from our recent group. You’ll see: • Better movement • More intent • Higher standards in action The numbers improved. But more importantly — the athletes changed. This is what happens when you coach with structure, not chaos. Combined with the objective data in the athlete tracker, the highlight video below becomes a powerful communication tool — helping parents clearly see the progress, feel confident in the process, and keep coming back. Everything you need to build this system for your athletes is in the classroom section above.

What Progress Actually Looks Like
10 Sessions. 10 Athletes. Real Development.
Wrapped up a shorter 10‑session block with a group of 10 young Baseball players (age 10). Even with a condensed program, the structure and standards delivered consistent progress. Average improvements across the group: - 9% sprint - 11% upper body power - 9% lower body power - 7% endurance - 9% agility A few athletes pushed even further, hitting 15–20% improvement in specific tests. Nothing complicated — just clear expectations, consistent reps, and a system that builds confidence through competence. All the tests we used in this block are included in the Standard First program, and the full athlete tracker is available for members to download.

Athlete Tracker Update!
I’ve just pushed an update to the downloadable Athlete Tracker inside the Toolkit. This version now includes: - % improvement tracking based on your selected season or All Time - Automatic “higher is better / lower is better” logic built into the calculations - Progress now visible directly on the Dashboard, not just on the individual athlete pages - Cleaner, more reliable formulas that scale as your data grows - Dynamic benchmarking that adjusts to your athlete's age This makes it easier than ever to see who’s improving, how fast, and across which tests — all from one place. Let me know what you think!
