The #1 skill that turns stress into strength (Brendon Burchard)
This was a good read I got from Brendon on how to turn stress into strength.
Brain fog.
Stomach ache.
Tight shoulders.
A clenched jaw.
Your heart racing for no clear reason.
It’s not a flu bug.
That’s stress showing up in your body.
Maybe you’re feeling it right now.
Most people think stress is something that happens to them.
But after decades of studying human behavior and coaching high performers, leaders, and everyday heroes, I’ve learned something I wish everyone understood:
Stress isn’t just a life problem.
It’s a leadership problem.
Specifically...it’s a problem with how you lead yourself.
The hard truth?
Most people spend their days stuck in “Reactive Mode.
”They replay problems in their heads.
They turn every task into a high-stakes test.
They chase perfection… and then escape the pressure by scrolling, snacking, or numbing out.
It becomes a loop.
And the stress keeps building.
But high performers don’t live in that loop. They train their minds like athletes train their bodies.
Now, it also helps to understand what you’re actually dealing with. There is Stress and there is Overwhelm.
Stress is the slow, chronic build of unmanaged tension.Overwhelm is the sudden flood of “I can’t handle this right now”.
Without systems, boundaries, and mental control, that overwhelm hardens into long-term stress.
So what can you do today?
➡️ Reset your body before your mind spirals.Take a slow, deep breath. Release the tension in your shoulders and jaw. Your physiology leads your psychology.
➡️ Chunk the work.Decide what gets done now and what gets handled later. Give your brain permission to focus on one thing at a time.
➡️ Question the story you are telling yourself.Ask yourself: Is this really a crisis, or just a task? You are more capable than the stress voice suggests.
These small shifts in control will create massive shifts in calm. It is a SKILL you build, not a switch you flip. But you have to do the work.
