I know the verses. So why is my body still bracing?
Sis, I need to say something honest.
There was a season where I could quote Philippians 4:6 with my whole chest… while my shoulders were up by my ears, my jaw was clenched, and my body was scanning every room like danger was coming.
I loved God. I knew the Word. And I was still living in survival mode.
Here’s what nobody told me: you can’t quote your nervous system into safety.
Your body isn’t rebelling against your faith. It’s running a survival program that got installed long before you ever memorized a scripture. Fight. Flight. Freeze. Fawn.
That’s not weak faith, that’s physiology doing exactly what it was trained to do to protect you.
The renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2) includes your body. God designed your nervous system, and He designed the way it heals too.
So try this with me right now, I call it a breath prayer reset:
🕊️ Inhale for 4 counts: “You are with me”
🕊️ Hold for 7
🕊️ Exhale slowly for 8: “I am safe in You”
Do it 3 times. The long exhale tells your body what your spirit already knows, the threat has passed. He’s here.
That’s not just breathing. That’s your body learning to agree with your faith.
If you’ve ever felt guilty that you’re “still struggling” even though you know the Word, drop a 🕊️ below. I want you to see how many women in this room are walking the same road.
You’re not behind. You’re healing.
