You can't pour from an empty cup.
You've heard it before.
You've probably said it to someone else.
But are you actually living it?
Because somewhere along the way most of us learned that putting ourselves last was the same as being a good parent. A good partner. A good person.
It isn't.
Running on empty doesn't make you selfless.
It just makes you depleted.
And depletion has a cost — and usually the people closest to you pay it.
Filling your cup isn't indulgent.
It's necessary.
A walk. A conversation that has nothing to do with the kids. Ten minutes of actual quiet. Something that reminds you that you exist outside of everything you do for everyone else.
That's not selfish.
That's survival.
And a regulated, rested, resourced version of you is the best thing you can give the people you love.
Start there!
