Idle hands get a bad reputation.
But sometimes the most productive thing you can do is stop. Put it down. Step away from the to-do list and the constant hum of doing.
Not every moment needs to be filled.
There is something that happens in the gaps. In the boredom. In the unscheduled, unplanned, un-optimised stretches of time that we've become so uncomfortable sitting in.
Ideas surface.
Feelings settle.
The nervous system finally exhales.
We were not built for relentless productivity. And neither were our kids.
Some of the best moments — for them and for us — happen when there's nothing on the agenda and nowhere to be.
Let there be nothing sometimes.
It's not wasted time.
It's breathing room.
And breathing room is where the good stuff grows. 🪴
