Very different weather on the East Coast of NSW
It's gone one from a heatwave to quite cool here on the East Coast of NSW for the last few days. Very enjoyable, but probably wont last much longer. How's the weather where you are? Did this post reach any international members? Please share what the weather is like in your part of the world? Happy Gardening Marty
Visit to the kitchen garden.
For a bit of inspiration Mum and I visited the kitchen garden at Mt Coot-tha botanic gardens at Toowong this morning. Its always interesting to see what and how they are growing things in the Brisbane climate throughout the year. The orchard is right beside the kitchen garden and you cant visit without a 2 min walk down to the serenity of the Japanese Garden.

Last day of 2025 + wanna be chicken…
Garden is still producing but lawns really need to be sorted. Got the compost to go on top of the hay bale experiment today - still a little smelly but neighbours aren’t complaining so that’s a win. Corn, snake beans and chillies are all looking good. So are the lettuce beds in the shaded area near the chicken run. That determinate tomato is putting out the last of its fruit but been a good haul with only ~25% going to fruit fly. Had a baby bush turkey find his way into the chicken run. Girls were not too happy about it. We’ve now go three or four young bush turkeys calling this part of the neighbourhood home. According to the RSPCA adult BT have no paternal instincts so they young are on their own from hatching. I just shooed him into the main garden and he happily wandered off to find some cover and snacks….
