I’ve just watched a brilliant clip from Russell Earnshaw where he uses a simple points system to spice up his coaching session.
What I love about it is how easy it is to add:
- 1 point for great communication
- 2 points for teamwork
- 3 points for creativity
- Bonus points for solving problems, not just scoring
Straight away the whole session changes:
Players talk more.
They notice each other more.
Effort goes up.
Smiles go up.
Coaching becomes about behaviours, not just outcomes.
This is gamification at its simplest → reward what you want to see.
