What do people think of the FA’s new Future Fits programme?
I’m really interested to hear from coaches, teachers, and parents who’ve looked into it. Do you think it: - moves coaching in the right direction? - matches how young people learn and play today? - feels realistic for grassroots environments? Or are there parts that feel unclear, ambitious, or disconnected from day-to-day coaching? 👇 Drop your thoughts — I’d love to hear different perspectives. #Football #Coaching #Grassroots #TheGamifiedCoach

Does assessment decrease motivation
We talk a lot about teaching skills… But O’Connor & Penney (2021) remind us that young people learn to move well because they first form an emotional bond with the activity. Curiosity → motivation → technical development. So here’s the real question for coaches and PE teachers: 👉 If a child has built a positive bond with physical activity, does grading their performance help… or does it risk damaging that bond? 👉 And by assessing movement with scores, levels or grades, are we unintentionally pushing some children further away from activity? Would love to hear your thoughts — Are our assessment systems supporting engagement, or squeezing it out?

Someone sent me this 3v3 league and I love it.
Fast. Busy. Chaotic in the right way. Players constantly solving problems, rotating, attacking, defending — the game teaches. This is a format that aligns perfectly with gamification: - small numbers - loads of involvement - rapid feedback - constant missions & transitions 👇 Coaches — who uses 3v3 with their groups? What benefits have you seen? — The Gamified Coach 🎮

Gen Z and Sports/activities trends
Gen Z are moving away from some traditional sports… and towards more engaging, game-like ones. This chart shows huge jumps for: 🔺 Boxing 🔺 Basketball 🔺 Esports 🔺 Dancing 🔺 Volleyball 🔺 Climbing And big drops for: 🔻 Rugby union 🔻 Snooker 🔻 Racing sports Why? Because Gen Z want sports that feel fast, social, creative, competitive and fun. Exactly the things gamification gives us. 👇 What sports do your players find exciting — and which ones do they switch off from? Let’s discuss. — The Gamified Coach 🎮

🎮 Using Points to Transform a Session
I’ve just watched a brilliant clip from Russell Earnshaw where he uses a simple points system to spice up his coaching session. What I love about it is how easy it is to add: - 1 point for great communication - 2 points for teamwork - 3 points for creativity - Bonus points for solving problems, not just scoring Straight away the whole session changes: Players talk more. They notice each other more. Effort goes up. Smiles go up. Coaching becomes about behaviours, not just outcomes. This is gamification at its simplest → reward what you want to see. I’ll be breaking this down in more detail soon, but for now: 👇 Coaches — what behaviours would YOU reward in your sessions? Communication? Effort? Support play? Creativity? Drop your ideas below. #TheGamifiedCoach 🎮
