Launch Call: June Cohort is happening in 10 days

Just Kidding - June is a Go!
Quick reminder of who we are around here. 😊 The Faith Experiment isn't about having the right answers. It's about making space to listen, paying attention to what God might be saying, and sharing what we discover along the way. One of my favorite parts of this community is getting to witness how differently—and yet how personally—God meets each person. Sometimes through a thought. Sometimes through a question. Sometimes through a picture, memory, scripture, or unexpected moment. And even, through silence. And honestly? Hearing what others are experiencing (or the LACK of his presence) often helps us recognize Him more clearly in our own lives. There's something powerful about beholding God's presence together and sharing what we're seeing. As one person puts language to an encounter, it often helps someone else recognize where God has already been moving in their own story. Below is a video about our 👉 June cohort (starting June 22), 👈 and there's a small change we're making this time that I'm really excited about. 👀 This month we'll be creating even more space to behold God's presence together during our live sessions and share what we're noticing in real time. Watch the video for the details. After you've watched, comment: What's one thing you've been learning, noticing, wrestling with, or grateful for lately?

June Cohort is Happening, with something new
A few weeks ago, I was pretty sure we weren't doing a live June cohort. I know I even mentioned this to some of those who participated during the May Challenge. Originally, it felt like the practical decision. I'm nearing the end of pregnancy. Summer is here. The kids are home. Life is full (and my capacity is questionable). And if I'm being completely transparent, I wasn't sure I had the energy to bring new people into the group and keep conversations moving. So I started thinking maybe we'd just pause for the month. Then I mentioned this to my husband. His response was immediate. "What?!" Not in a harsh way. Not in a corrective way. Just genuine surprise (and maybe with an eyeroll because he knows this brings me energy!) "No. You're doing it." Now, one thing about me: when my husband is right, I don't always know it immediately. Sometimes it takes me a little while to come around. This was one of those times. But, as I simmered with inviting people in, the live challenge, and leaning in to the Lord again, I realized the only reason I wasn't wanting to do it were excuses grounded in: 1) Self-Preservation 2) Self-Reliance 3) Self-Protection Over the next few weeks, I kept hearing the same thing from people around me. People are hungry for connection. Not more content. Not another teaching series. Not another thing to consume. Connection around faith. People want spaces where they can talk honestly about what they're experiencing with God. They want to hear what others are seeing. They want to share their own stories. They want to process faith in community rather than in isolation. Or, at least, hear other people process faith to embark on their own trepidation journey too. And the more I listened, the more I realized that's exactly what we've been saying we want, too, Taylor and I. More present, vulnerable, tingly Spirit speaking conversations that are consistent, not one-off moments. More opportunities to behold God's presence together and share what we're noticing.

Launch Call Follow up: What Does A Step of Faith Actually Mean?
This isn't an answer or list of Bible verses. This is open-ended thoughts that came up during the launch call. What are your preconceived ideas of action-oriented faith? Comment below with your thoughts and add to the list below of potential steps of faith. Could a step of faith be as simple as: - Doing something that doesn't make sense - Having no clue why you're doing something - Giving up control - Slowing down - Not knowing and being okay with that - Being expectant while relinquishing expectations As you start the challenge this week, each day will end open-ended. There isn't a specific step to follow or prompt to initiate next. That's where the Holy Spirit comes in. Here is a list of out of the box steps that could come up this week. Keep them in your mind and heart as potential things God may invite you to. - Forgiveness - Listening and hearing silence - Getting honest about your specific desire - Getting honest about your specific fears - Repentance (Not just turning away from something, but turning toward something God shows you) - Joy - Letting Go of Understanding

May Day 5- Posture Prayer & What Do You Want Me To Do?
What posture stood out to you from the list given? Reclining back? Kneeling with a leg under you? That one was mine! Maybe arms pulled over your chest? When you got in this posture, how did Jesus respond to it? Near, Far, matching? And when asked the question of God, what do you want me to do, did he share anything with you? Sometimes with this question, God knows you don’t need to do a single thing—- you need to know his love, or stop or sit to rest. He’ll never call you into an action, especially service-oriented, and forsake you in the movement forward. It’s the action expressed as an invitation that he give for you very own sake. It’s out of his perfect seeing and knowing you and what you’re experiencing.

May Day 3 - Imaginative Prayer & What are you Afraid of?
I get that this practice might feel very different from how we approach scripture in Bible study. But there's a reason for that. Bible study that includes word searches, original texts, context historically, and author's intent are SO helpful in the LEFT brain approach to knowing about God. BUT, God made us with the RIGHT side of the brain too - the irrational, creative, imaginative, and non-linear side that is able to know God. (know as in experience, feel, sense, and hear) What was your experience like interacting with scripture, with God's voice, through your imaginative story-sided brain? Where did you find yourself in the story? IF YOUR STRUGGLING IDENTIFYING WHAT YOU'RE AFRAID OF: I get it's tough. And actually, fear is one of the hardest emotions to identify honestly. So think about moments of anxiety, worry, a hypercontroling state, you've found yourself in. All of these emotions point toward a deeper lying fear. They're a boat that's on top of the ocean of fear rolling under it. To find the hidden fear, ask, "Why" over and over again. Why did I feel anxious when so-and-so didn't show up? Why was I worried this morning leaving my house? Why did I turn into Super Control Mode? And then when you've answered, ask why again. You might be surprised how many layers are uncovered. This kind of conversation back and forth when sought after in prayer IS partnership with the Spirit's guidance. And if answering these questions feels impossible, ask him to reveal the answer to you through a passage of scripture coming to mind. I can't wait to hear about your time with God, and your own thoughts and feelings. I'm praying for your encounter with him.
