I've been thinking about how often we tell people to "follow for more" or "save this post" and then wonder why nothing moves.
Here's the thing. Those CTAs are asking someone to do you a favour. The CTAs that actually work? They ask the reader to do something for themselves.
Here's what that looks like in practice:
"Save this" → "Keep this for the week you're stuck on what to post"
"Link in bio" → "I put the full breakdown at the link — worth a read if you're [wherever they are at]"
"Follow for more" → "If you're an [established expert tired of content advice written for influencers], stick around"
"Drop a comment" → ask the thing they actually have an opinion about
The ones that work are specific. They meet someone at the moment they're already in.
This felt like the right Monday to talk about it, because I'm dropping the first lesson of the Content Shift Roadmap this week. Level one is open to everyone at level 3 engagement. The rest is in Premium.
If you've been curious what the Roadmap actually looks like — this is the week to find out.
What's the CTA you keep writing even though you're not sure it's working?
Watch for another post with content ideas coming up later today.😊
