A New Direction for This Community
Over the next several days, I’m going to be sharing something new with you. Many of you joined this group when the focus was on decluttering and organizing our homes. That topic is still important to me. A peaceful, welcoming home matters. But something interesting has happened recently while I’ve been clearing out a storage unit. Instead of donating everything or holding a big garage sale, I started listing items one by one on Facebook Marketplace. The result surprised me. So far I’ve sold 15 items for just under $1,500, and the storage unit is now completely empty. That experience changed the way I think about decluttering. Instead of simply getting rid of things, we can often convert unused belongings into cash. That’s the direction I’d like to explore with this community. Over the next few days I’ll be sharing: • how to recognize items that can sell• how to price them• how to list them on Facebook Marketplace• how I handle messages and schedule pickups• what the real process looks like I’ll also be showing some of my own listings and results along the way. For now, there’s nothing you need to do. Just follow along as I explain the process. If you’ve ever looked around your home and wondered whether some of those unused items might still have value, I think you’ll find this interesting.

New Group Name
Over the past few months, something unexpected has happened in my life. Many of you know that I’ve been working to clear out storage units and declutter different areas of my home. For years, the idea of tackling it felt overwhelming. It always seemed like too much to deal with. But I started small. One carload at a time. One listing at a time. And something surprising happened: clutter started turning into real money. Furniture sold. Kitchen items sold. Records sold. Little things I no longer needed started finding new homes — and at the same time, they were helping reduce expenses like storage unit fees. It made me realize something important. Decluttering doesn’t have to mean donating everything or having a giant, exhausting garage sale. Sometimes it can mean turning unused items into cash while freeing up space in your life. Because of that, I’ve decided to evolve the focus of this community. Going forward, this group will focus on: • Decluttering in manageable steps• Selling items locally (especially using Facebook Marketplace)• Pricing and negotiation strategies• Reducing overwhelm around clutter• Celebrating the wins along the way If you’re someone who has ever looked at a room, a closet, or a storage space and thought, “I don’t even know where to start,” you are absolutely in the right place. We’re going to tackle it together — one listing, one carload, and one success at a time. And of course, I’ll keep sharing what I’m learning along the way. I’m really glad you’re here.– Mama Li

How I Decide What to Sell First
Once you start looking around your home with new eyes, you may notice many things that could potentially sell. That raises an important question: Where do you start? When I began clearing out my storage unit, I didn’t try to list everything at once. Instead, I focused on items that were: • easy to identify• in good working condition• something I clearly no longer needed• reasonably easy to carry or move Starting with these kinds of items helped me build momentum. Another helpful guideline is this: If something has been sitting unused for a year or more, there’s a good chance it could be a candidate to sell. Often the first items people sell are things like: • small appliances• extra furniture• tools• electronics• hobby equipment These are items that many people are actively searching for. When I started listing items this way, something surprising happened — the process became easier and even a little fun. Over the next couple of days, I’ll share more about how I price items and create listings. For today, here’s a simple question: What’s one item in your home that you know you no longer use?
What Kinds of Items Actually Sell?
Over the past couple of days, I’ve been talking about the idea of converting unused belongings into cash. One question naturally follows: What kinds of things actually sell on Facebook Marketplace? Many people assume only expensive or collectible items will sell. But in reality, very ordinary household items often find buyers. Here are some examples that frequently sell: • small kitchen appliances (pressure cookers, mixers, air fryers)• furniture like stools, chairs, or side tables• tools and workshop items• printers or electronics• home décor and lamps• hobby or craft supplies Often these are things that once served a purpose in our homes but are no longer being used. What’s interesting is that many of these items sell in the $40–$150 range, sometimes more depending on the item and condition. In my own case, I recently sold 15 items for just under $1,500, simply by listing items that had been sitting unused. The items weren’t rare or special. They were simply things that someone else needed. Over the next couple of days, I’ll explain a little more about how the process works and how I decide what to sell first. For now, I’m curious: What’s one item in your home that you haven’t used in a long time?
