Why I Built EasyBench
I want to tell you why I built EasyBench.
Not the business reason. The real reason.
A while back, a shop owner got on the phone with me. She was exhausted. You could hear it in her voice.
She and her husband had built their shop from nothing. Years of grinding. Finally had a solid team. Things were clicking.
Then two techs left within a month of each other.
One got poached by a dealer that promised factory training they'd never actually deliver. The other just... quit. No notice. No warning.
Suddenly she went from running a profitable shop to wondering if it was time to sell.
She told me: "If we leave now, we close. There's nobody to take over."
And I helped her. That's what Technician Find does. We ran the ads, generated the applications, and got her a hire.
But it took about two months. And it cost her more than money. It cost her sleep, her confidence, and almost her business.
And sitting on that phone call, I kept thinking the same thing I think every time a shop owner calls me in crisis:
This didn't have to happen.
She didn't need a better recruiter. She needed to have never been in that position in the first place.
She needed a bench.
Here's something most people don't know about me.
I talk to shop owners every single week. Have for almost eight years. Hundreds and hundreds of conversations.
And the thing that haunts me isn't the owners who call in crisis. I can help those people. That's what Technician Find does. We write the ads, run the ads, generate the apps, and get them a hire.
What haunts me are the ones who call too late.
The owner-operators who closed because there was nobody to replace them.
One shop owner told me about eighteen shops in their area alone — all gone. Not because business was bad. Because they were the only tech, and when they couldn't turn a wrench anymore, the shop died with them.
The owner who told me "I've depleted my bench" — while he was still fully staffed. He could feel it coming. That fragile, one-phone-call-away feeling. But there was nothing to buy that would fix it. No recruiter to call. No ad to run. Because he didn't need a hire. He needed a system.
The owner who said: "Staffing is the main reason we aren't meeting our stretch goals." Not car count. Not marketing. Staffing. He had the work. He had the customers. He just couldn't grow because he couldn't find the people — and he had no pipeline to find them.
I kept hearing the same thing over and over:
"I know I should be doing something. I just don't know what."
That's the gap EasyBench fills.
I didn't build this to make more money. I built it because I got tired of watching good shop owners lose.
Lose sleep. Lose techs. Lose growth. Lose hope.
Not because they're bad at running shops. They're incredible at running shops.
They just never had a system for the one thing that can take it all away overnight.
Our mission at Technician Find has always been simple: good automotive technicians do their best work when they link up with great shops — and we all benefit from safe and reliable vehicles.
EasyBench is the other half of that mission.
It's not just about filling the seat when it's empty. It's about making sure you're never one phone call away from panic.
If you joined yesterday — thank you. I don't take it lightly.
If you're still thinking about it — the founding rate of $149/month is locked in for anyone who joins by Monday, March 2nd at 5pm Pacific. After that, it goes to $249. And the private Bench Jumpstart call with me— where we build your first Bench Board together — is only for the first 20 founding members (as of right now we are nearly half way there).
If you're in crisis right now and need a hire — DM me about Technician Find. Different service, same mission.
If you want to make sure you never end up in crisis — EasyBench is open.
—Chris
P.S. That shop owner I mentioned — the one who was thinking about selling? She didn't sell. She called me. We helped her hire. But it took a couple months and it cost her more than money. It cost her confidence. EasyBench exists so nobody else has to make that call from that place.
