Shy to request higher pay?
Have you struggled to request a pay rise at work? I know this challenge only too well. When I started to work in Portugal as a teacher, the head teacher confronted me about my salary which she discovered was higher than hers.
She had been working at the school for nearly a decade and I completely understood her frustration (and never found out how she learned what salary I was on). I too feel the discomfort of asking for more money, especially when you develop a friendship with the owners or managers who decide payroll, and I think that asking for pay rises is something that typically women struggle with more.
What strategy have you found that helps you when heading into this type of negotiation? Let us know below.
