When Creativity Becomes Healing
Did you know your nervous system responds to creativity too? Inside the classroom I’ve included a gentle practice called Neurographical Art for the Soul. Not because you need to be “good at art” but because sometimes creativity gives the mind a chance to soften and the body a chance to exhale. There’s something deeply calming about allowing lines, shapes, and movement to express what words cannot. It becomes less about creating something perfect, and more about reconnecting with yourself in the process 💛

When Creativity Becomes Healing
The 6 Types of Trapped Emotions
I find Emotion Code work so fascinating. Many people are surprised to learn that emotional energy can become stored within the body and nervous system in different ways. Sometimes emotions come from stressful experiences, sometimes they are inherited through family lines, and sometimes we unknowingly absorb the emotional energy of others. Emotions themselves are not “bad.” They are often the body’s way of communicating with us. A signal. A protection. A response to what we’ve lived through, carried, suppressed, or experienced. I think there is something really powerful about becoming curious about our emotions instead of fighting against them. I loved creating this visual with the help of my AI assistant to make this topic easier for you to understand. Have you heard of trapped emotions or the Emotion Code before?

The 6 Types of Trapped Emotions
𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗼 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗹𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 💛
For most of my life, I thought I was just “too sensitive.” Too emotional. Too aware. Too deeply affected by things other people seemed to brush off. A change in someone’s tone. A short reply. Feeling left out. Someone seeming distant. Being corrected. And suddenly my whole nervous system would spiral trying to work out what I’d done wrong. I’ve also always had 50,000 ideas and projects happening at once. My mind rarely slows down. I get inspired easily. Excited easily. Bored easily too. Lately, I’ve been learning more about ADHD, nervous systems, emotional regulation, and sensitivity… and honestly, so much of my life suddenly makes sense. I haven’t been diagnosed. And truthfully, I’m not overly attached to labels anyway. Labels are for cans. 😉 But understanding that some nervous systems experience rejection, criticism, overwhelm, and emotions more intensely has helped me meet myself with far more compassion. For years I thought something was wrong with me. Now I see it differently. I don’t see my sensitivity as weakness anymore. I see it as awareness. As intuition. As creativity. As empathy. As the part of me that notices what others often miss. I also know I need quiet. Stillness Space to regulate my nervous system and return to myself. That’s why meditation, stitching, neurographical art, zentangles, yoga, sound, mindfulness, and creative projects have become such important parts of my life. Not because they “fix” me.But because they help me slow down enough to breathe inside my own mind again. So many of us grew up hearing: “You’re too sensitive." “You’re overthinking.” “Stop taking things so personally.” So we learned to mask it. Hide it. Push through it. Pretend we were okay. Meanwhile internally, we were replaying conversations for hours. But maybe sensitivity was never the problem. Maybe some of us were simply wired to feel deeply, create deeply, love deeply, and experience the world in a different way. And honestly? I think that might just be my superpower. 💛

Why I LOVE The Flow Chime
The instrument I’m playing here is called a Flow Chime. Flow Chimes are designed to create soft, cascading tones that are deeply calming to the body and mind. Unlike louder percussion instruments, their sound is gentle and fluid, which is why they are often used in sound healing, meditation, mindfulness practices, yoga, and nervous system regulation work. The tones and vibrations can help encourage the nervous system to shift out of stress mode (fight or flight) and into a more relaxed state known as rest and restore. This can support: • relaxation and stress relief • slowing busy thoughts • grounding and presence • emotional release • deeper meditation • improved sense of calm and safety in the body Many people notice that the sound feels almost like a “wave” moving through them. The flowing tones can help quiet the mind and create space for stillness, which is one of the reasons I love using them in my sound baths and circles. Sound works not only through what we hear, but also through vibration. Our bodies respond to rhythm, tone, and frequency in ways that can feel soothing, regulating, and restorative. The Flow Chime is one of those instruments that seems to invite the whole body to soften. 💛
