The Society of Ordinary Gentlemen is supported by the donations of the members. However, donations are not what gives the members value to the Society. It is the quality of the posts and the active participation of the members that provide the value.
The Society was created for the members to support each other and build friendships, not businesses but our Society is completely donor funded and without that support, we will not be able to operate. The monthly rent for our community space is $99 and without monthly support, we would not be able to exist. There are only a few members that are supporting the Society with donations, and a few others that are supporting the Society through their efforts and helping to promote this great community that we have. I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the support of these few members and let them know that we could not survive without all that you do for this Society. All others are benefitting from this group on the backs of these few that are helping to further the success and future of our Society. The alternative to this is to begin charging a membership fee. I truly do not like this idea and hope it does not come down to this.
Because of this, the Gentlemen’s Patronage Day will be put on the calendar with the first being January 10th. This day will serve as a reminder in lieu of a donation email reminder every month although I will still post updates from time to time about our Society.
As stated, we are not looking for strictly donations but also need more people to help advance our Society with their efforts. Further than that, any new ideas that would draw more interest to this community would also be greatly appreciated. The success of this community depends on all of us.
My hope is to spark interest in men and women to go back to the respectable way of being a gentleman or lady. I believe that when men stopped dressing up in the early 60s is when society started going downhill. Morals, respect, and integrity started disappearing shortly after. After that, ladies started following suit due to the loss of the respect by men. As men, we are to lead by example with respect, manners, and integrity. Believe it or not gentlemen, people are watching how you carry yourself and the way you act. I believe that this Society could help to change that and bring back those morals, integrity and living intentionally.
To help educate the younger generation, we are considering the formation of a Junior Society for younger men and women. This community would consist of a variety of classes that will help turn these young men and women into gentlemen and ladies. At this point, this community would funnel into our community once they become an adult. We are in need of people to be a part of the leadership of this group.
As a thank you for your support, the Society has acquired lapel pins as a token of our appreciation. Lapel pins will be shipped as a Thank You Gift to members who support the Society through their donations and/or considerable contributions by their efforts AND have obtained a Level 6 ranking. The Level 6 ranking indicates that the member is active and not just a "joiner and collector."
The level of donation support to receive a thank you lapel pin is confidential, but it is also cumulative. Likewise, efforts will be evaluated individually to make the determination whether a lapel pin should be sent.
For some members a small monthly donation works better than a larger single donation. A member can work towards Level 6 and make donations at their own pace.
If you see a member wearing a lapel pin, you will recognize them as a Society supporter and worthy of thanks and praise!
How will you know if you have reached the lapel pin support level? You will get a message from me asking for your address.
If you would like to support the Society through a small donation or a large donation, donation options are below.
Donations can be made through Venmo and Zelle. My Venmo handle is @arnoldville and Zelle donations are done through your bank if it supports Zelle. The email address for Zelle donations is thesocietyofordinarygentleman@proton.me. This is a specific account that these donations go into so rest assure that your donation will not get lost. The Society also has a Patreon page, which some members are using for monthly donations as well.
Please note that Patreon charges a 10% fee on all transactions.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
