Get to stepping
Good morning gentlemen,
I hope that this post finds everyone in great spirits and staying warm and dry. There have been a lot of men posting about getting shoes re done or re furbished. Granted if you paid a lot for the shoes you are going to want to keep them in the best possible condition.
Now granted just because they might not be name brand or $500.00-$1000.00 does not mean you don’t need to take care of them. Actually this is just the opposite. Shoe care and maintenance is very important.
This is not just for the shoes themselves, but for your feet as well.
Wearing shoes in inclement weather cause the shoes to become soaked with water, snow, and if you’re in areas where they use salt to melt ice this is really detrimental to your shoes. So protecting your shoes is vital. I recommend in areas where you have heavy rain, water, and especially where salt is present I recommend wearing galoshes overcoat shoes to protect them. Also many like to use quick shine shoe sponges to get a nice gloss on their shoes. This is good for quick shine, but for long lasting protection you need to use shoe paste or a form of polish agent to place on them to protect them. Daily bushing with a brush to knock off the dirt is also important as well. The more you keep your shoes dry and free of dirt and grime the longer they will last.
I would also recommend have at least two pairs of shoes for every shoe that you have that you wear on a daily basis, this way you can rotate you shoes giving your shoes time to dry and conform to their original shape. By taking them off and placing shoe trees in them will Keep their shape and allow them to dry in the correct shape.
A great rule of thumb is to brush your shoes when you take them off daily, and then once the week or on whatever day you’re off do a deep cleaning and apply shoe polish. While you’re doing this, it is the perfect time to examine your shoes for holes, spots, afraid laces, or anything for you to l repair or replace what is needed.
Proper care of your shoes will keep any shoe lasting long and protect your feet as well from fungus and feet pain from poor quality and performance. Rotation of your shoes, polishing and maintenance of your shoes can be relaxing and rewarding, but most important isprotect your feet for fungus, blisters, and other health issues associated with poor quality of your shoes and maintenance.
