Stop saying “Go play” — say THIS instead
A lot of kids don’t struggle with “being friendly.” They struggle with what to do first.
Instead of: “Go play!” Try:
  1. “Stand near them.”
  2. “Watch for 5 seconds.”
  3. “Ask: What are you playing?”
Why this works: Watching gives them information. Then the question gives them an entry point.
Reminder for parents and caregivers: “Your job is not to be brave. Your job is to be curious.”
Question: Where does your child get stuck most: approaching, waiting/watching, or saying the first line?
