I travel to various areas around Cambridge a lot, and always come home via backroads and villages to avoid the M11.
One little village I pass through always has a little trail of red baubles hanging along the side of the road from trees, signs and bushes.
They always intrigued me; and it has been lovely each December when I spot the first bauble!
In the summer I met a lady who I knew lived there so I asked her if she knew the significance. Indeed she did. A lady used to walk her dog a circuit around the village. Sadly she lost her companion, every year she walks and hangs red baubles on her route. How lovely is that? Indeed I have come through the village from another direction this year; and it was a lovely thrill to spot a red bauble!
I may look at my footpath map and see if I can find a spot to park and walk the trail!
