Skool dog awards…. Boop the snoot!!
The dogs nose is such an amazing piece of kit.🄰 We all know that it has 300 million olfactory receptors compared to our measly 6 million ( although there are certainly smells we wish we didn’t smellšŸ‘ƒšŸ’©) Does your dog shove their nose into every crevice? Does your dog push their nose into everything you are doing, eager to share the experience with you? Are you woken each morning with a cold wet nose to the face! Or is your dog another super sleuth who uses their nose to find the smallest treasure or treat? Well here is your chance to pay homage šŸ™Œ to the glorious nose and join us in BOOP THE SNOOT. That’s right, all you need to do is add a photo or a recording of you giving that wonderful nose a ā€˜boop’ when it pokes itself into those possibly undesired spaces🄓. As always, this is open for the week, same rules apply so please getting ā€˜booping’

So what do you do when you are out walking and a complete strangers tells you what to do with your dog?šŸ¤” I think it probably depends what they are saying and how they are saying it. Today, Leif wearing his ā€˜anxious’ raincoat, in the rain of course, we moved off the track to give a man and his off lead smallish dog space. His dog was admittedly very well behaved. Leif was watching his dog, became a little excited and barked. The man stopped and said you need to let him off lead, don’t put him on a lead because he is protecting you. I politely explained that he was hurt by a dog about 2 yrs ago and since then can be reactive.i said that people may not appreciate my dog running up to them off lead and possibly biting or nipping their dog. He again said let him off and walked off. I tried to call to him to suggest we walk together at the secure field but he ignored me. Now I do see his point but how many times have we been really annoyed at the owner who allows this? Has he taken Leif’s breed characteristics and history into account? No he most definitely has not and he has also not considered my abilities to chase after Leif over fields and rivers when he runs off especially as there is livestock in fieldsšŸ¤”I am going to search for this man on FB and call his bluff about the secure field.

@Jackie Wylde and then you wouldn’t have to deal with rude people any more! It is very tempting. Some people really do take liberties don’t they? Imagine going up to someone whose child was having a tantrum and saying ā€œhe’s just pushing his luck. Just walk away and leave him, he’ll soon learn to behaveā€. You wouldn’t do it with a child, so why think it’s okay to interfere with someone’s pet?

@Jackie Wylde no surprise at all, sadly. It would be nice if he was up for conversation, but I have this feeling…
Small adventures 🐶
Sunny day so we went for a drive, a little house hunting and searching for a nice place to walk in the sun. Climbing a small hill and discovering new places nearby 😊 What what your adventure today?

@Jackie Wylde I try and be sneaky. I put the open paw wax on the floor, have Troy on a lead, and walk him over it. It takes several attempts but we get there eventually. If I can get the back paws done this way he is a bit better with front paws, although I put squeezy cheese on his shoulder where he can’t quite reach and do some ninja paw dabbing while he’s distracted. It’s quite a feat, trust me!

@Jackie Wylde I feel we should try and get some videos - it would be entertaining šŸ˜‚
Playtime!
Whether it’s fine or foul, there’s times when it’s not possible to play out with the dogs. That’s the time to bring the fun indoors. Troy loves games of catch, and tug and interaction. Tia likes sniffing games, hide and seek and anything where there’s half a chance of getting a snack. What do you guys do to keep your pups entertained inside?

@Jackie Wylde he can be gentle with soft toys, but he can also be a destroyer. I tend to find he becomes more destructive if he is bored, like at times when work is intense and I’m working long hours. Now I’ve noticed the pattern, when I see him start to get a bit fed up, if I’m not able to get up and out with him I’ll try to swap soft toy for coffee bone or something like that.
